Default Help please-Going Wireless broadband...

I've got Digiweb's dsl xtra package & need 2 go wireless so I can have the net upstairs in my studio/office but I don't have a clue where to start..

Digiweb have a wireless router (wi-fi 4port-router) for 39.99 but my desktop upstairs doesn't have a wireless card so I'd have 2 buy that seperately.I was thinking of one of the usb wireless ports which I've seen around for about 45 euros.

Does anybody have any tips & suggestions?

Is there a better wireless router package I can get from a store for a good price & is reliable,as I don't want to have any technical issues every other day.

Anyways,I'm open to suggestions as I know very little about the subject.

If it helps...my eircom phone/dsl box is downstairs right by the front door & I need net connection upstairs in my stdio which is around 5/6 metres away max. and also need 2 have my gf's laptop able to access the net whever she is in the house whenever she needs it.

cheers

I've used both Belkin and Linksys wireless routers and I found the Linksys one to be much better in terms of configuration options and signal quality.

I've also used Belkin USB adapters, and I found them to be OK, but not great. Granted they were 802.11b adapters, but the range wasn't the best and the configuration software was problematic at times.

I have the Linksys WRT54GS, and if memory serves me right, it cost about €60, but it was worth it.

More information on wireless routers can be found here: Wireless Router Reviews

thanx 4 that,

everybody I've talked to has said to go with linksys as they're much more reliable & perform better.
