I am looking for some software that I can leave running on my home PC over a period of time to monitor my broadband connection. I am with IFA Telecom (see Irish ISP forum for details just posted) and the service is poor. I often lose connectivity all together and when I am connected the speed can be well below the 1Mbps I am promised.
I would like to collect some data over a period of time that shows how often I have no connection (% of time) and when available the quality of that conneciton (ideally in terms of speed).
As an example I just manually ran a ping to the ISPs DNS server 20 times (i.e. 80 actual pings at 4 packets per instance) in an hour and got the following results:
Succes rate of ping -- 41%
Ratio of pings that took >500mS (succesful only) -- 76%
Ratio of pings > 1 second -- 39%
This sort of data collected over a few days woudl be useful, even better would be data that shows bandwidths available over that time
Anyone know of anything (ideally freeware

) that I can use?
