Talking digiweb metro lite -- what wireless router???

I have just got digiweb metro lite. I have my laptop attached by ethernet frfom the thomson modem provided. I have a netgear dg834g wireless router but cannot get this to work even though the computer recognises it and sets up a wireless network. any suggestions??? If not, which wireless router should i get and would be reasonably fast. I have wasted hours on this and have no notion what one to get as digiweb told me that the netgear adsl router would work. Thanks

Hi

I know it might seem a bit obvious but did you try getting Digiweb TS to talk you through setup considering that they originally told you the netgear would work?

Surely this kind of technical assistance would be included in what you pay them.

Failing that Netgear have online TS which might be able to help.

The adsl router was only recomended by the first digiweb support person. Everyone else in the company has reccomended a wireless ethernet router with a WAN port that has to go thru their thomson router. Any ideas?

Default Ethernet routher

howdy, i'm in the same boat,

has anyone actually gone and bought an ethernet routher? what model?

I'm setting up a lan for a friend and digiweb won't even recommend a routher! crazy because they are nearly forcing a switch to eircom where a free routher will be provided.

thanks
Brian.

Default what wireless router

I bought a belkin dsl router 108bps. this is the same as a cable router. you have to put a ethernet cable to the router and then set up the router. Takes 2 min. No problems in a month. Paid 85 euro for it in argos. the're cheaper than the ones with a modem in it already

any wireless router will work as long as the router is set up fr dhcp.
In the case of a router with adsl modem set the wan for bridged and make sure dhcp is on then turn on turn both device off and turn the router on first, the the digiweb box.

The box they supply is pure muck but its all they go.

I used to have to reset every 2 days with various routers but i have an apple airport extream and it works great

Default what one to buy

hey guys, i guess i should have posted my findings...

i was very confused at first when i was trying to do this... in the end it's very simple..

it boils down to any router will do: provided the WAN port is a rj45 (network cable) not a rj11 phone cable. simple as..

they are referred to as "ethernet router" but try google that and you'll be none the wiser.

hope this helps anyone still confused.
