Default Irish People Don't Want Broadband

According to a recent Comreg report a lot of consumers that initially signed up for broadband services have switched back to narrowband.

Some of Damien's comments in the ENN article might explain it to some degree.

When I compare the experience of signing up for broadband here (traumatic experience) versus that of signing up in Italy (simple and painless) it makes you really wonder about how "advanced" we are.

Default Most users want real broadband not slow band

Most users want real time vidio downloading and music etc
that means real time garrnteed 4mb solutions that require comntension ratios in the low 8:1 with 24mb lines

saying the irish dont want BB is like saying the irish dont want taxi service
witness the huge crowds walking home in 1999 as no taxis in closed market versus today where there is more taxis
You might conclud that people walking home dont want taxis cause they walk home

No they want real service at affordable prices like what you can get in paris 20mb for €30pm and or similar
this pokey 1mb contension ratio 40:1 joke broadband at €50 pm or more they dont want that rubbish so they dump it fair due or as they say they opt to walk home it faster than sloooowband

so from the fact they say wont pay for this garbage service you can if your a marketing idiot in comreg conclude Irish dont want broadband so as not to rock the nice cosumer deprived public from thier slumber
good god if they the public woke up they might see that comreg dosnt do anything useful to help ripped off costomers and ocasionly makes some stupid statement to show they exist and realy ignore all the telecoms breaches of regulations by wearing black non see through sun glasses
(if you cant see the sun you can never be blinded by it)
should be called Berties pet pooch that muddies the water when too many people start thinking

yes Eircom and all its fledgling hanger on so called competitors who gain from this bottle neck that the government aid abets and promotes

this link explains some of my attitude on this

http://www.irishisptest.com/forum/t2...interview.html

Saw yesterday that EU will allow the government to allow a
special €170 million to be spent for BB in rural Ireland

Great spondulics if that meant that all Irish could receive a decent affordable BB service

In your dreams

Those Telecoms got it all spoken for
and there will always be some reason why the vast majority will not receive it until another 170m is spent and so on and so on. and so ........

So it seems to me that the Pat Kenny RTE show last week was a publicity ploy by Eircom to lay out the grand rip off scheme promises of services in the future

So what is the headlines in 2008 goona say
OOPS sorry the new encumbriants that bought Eircom ran off with the treasure trove of their share of the €170 million
spoils of war

life's is a bitch

sorry the remaining carcass rotting on the plains of bog fields of Ireland
ex telecom Eicom
has'snt any spondulics left to connect you to your
slooooow band 2mb
contention ratio 40:1
at €30 per month
not forgetting line rental €24.18 per month
so if your in stickville the bog lane lost county

life's is a bitch

hope you got our wish you were here postcard we telecoms are enjoying 100mb broadband on this here Caribbean beach with our XXXXX beer in the sun
The company is great includes the brigade that got your face ripped with the Eircom share sales what ahoot that was and we got lots of war stories to swop and future plans to hatch and bake
and OH all you offline and slow-band whiners can all sod off

life's is a bitch

the winner takes it all
and the cannon fodder get eaten every few years
when we figure out a new way to get you in our nets or better slow band profitable rip off internets
ahh this is tooo much.....

Whats that you say Comreg
why Eircom and BT can drive a bus through that with impunity
and they cant do naf never mind the other hanger on competitors in this here conopoly

(conoply is where a large group of competitors seem to end up charging the same prices so its a cooperative monopoly conoply Irish style
evidence several years where all competitors in Telecoms charge €24.18 per month for line rental says conoply conoply and Comreg did squat about it)

So much so we rip off telecoms even made a new national anthem of the Irish telecoms
and it goes like this

baker baker
choo choo we got us here a conopoly cake a cooking
baker backer come on in and join the conopoly cake
choo choo this telecom rip of train is a coming down your telco line

clicky clicky clack hear those Euro's a rolling in

come on we got us here a conoply cake a cooking choo chooo

hey there little micro telco slip in there that back door
we got us a big cake that needs a serious dividing

and join this here conopoly cake's that a cooking

choo choo hear those Euro's a rolling in

Hey there a comreg in the sky and one up front big telco

choo choo clickty clack hear those Euro's a rolling in

don't worry big brother got old Comreg under control
choo choo hear those Euro's a rolling in

stole Comreg legal dentures choo choo
now they got legal suckers suckers get it
choo choo hear those Euro's a rolling in

this conopoly is a cooking is a cooking
chooo chooo
and nothing gonna stop this here a conolpoly
a cooking along so go eat our sloooow band fumes

choo choo hear those Euro's a rolling in
listen up all you telco's the target is Cayman Islands
were a making a landing hot and heavy

choo choo hear those Euro's a rolling in

our conoply cake full to the brim with booty
choo choooo hear those Euro's a rolling in
lifes is a bitch

choo choo

I fix PCs for a living, and I've had quite a few customers who needed a full OS reinstall because of virus infestation since getting broadband. The usual culprit is the children downloading music/games/movies from warez sites, and a lot of customers said they were cancelling their bb subscription because of this.

I have one thing to say to those as say that.
"Bwuhahahahahahahahahahahahahah" *deep breath* "wuhahahahahahahahahahaha".

Just another "typical politician" speaking through the incorrect opening.

IMO it's more like an example of comparing a city with 7.5 million people to a country with 4 million.

I've just come back from Oz where the best plan I could get and I was on was 1.5Mb down / 256Kb (60GB cap) up for about €50. Here I'm on 2Mb down / up with no cap for about the same price. Here I've got contentation ratio crap to worry about but it hasn't affected me so far.

For the record I think it's more do to with Eircom being privatised. They're just in it to make money the easiest way they can, you can see this with the amount of times they've changed owners. Build up the value and sell it on. Why should they have long term expensive investment when that's the plan.

And the fact that Comreg don't seem to have any power.

IMHO (and sorry if this is too crude):
Comreg doesn't have the b*lls to do what they need to do.
They are meant to be an independant watchdog, yet they are more of an ignoredog than anything else.

I wonder would the government start taking a bit more notice if we vote differently in the next election? Perhaps they feel we all approve as they're still in office - and hence they ignore the "small voices"?
