Default The Ibb Contract

For all those moaning about the bad speeds etc from IBB.
Many of you have a contract that says you will stay with them for 1 year etc, and feel now that you are trapped.

Well you dont have to.

Bear in mind a contract works both ways, it insures that both parties know what they are giving and getting.

In the case of IBB, they do not provide service that you are paying for in that contract.

They are in fact in breach of contract with you.

The law states that you must exhaust alll forms of complaint before you can cancel a contract.

Ring them.. I know it takes forty mins etc, but it's a first step.
keep a copy of the phone bill.

Take screenshoots of your speed tests and email them to IBB.
Keep a copy of all screenshots and emails.

Complain to Comreg.

If they still Ignore you.

Tell them (not ask) to uninstall you in writing or email.

Call your bank and cancel the payments.

They will still send you invoices, ignore them

They will have no choice but to come and take the ariel etc.

Dont worry about legal action from them.
I have consulted a few legal people and they have all told me that if IBB even tried to take you to court they would lose in a heartbeat.

Just print out this forum for a start. lets see a Judge's reaction to that!

They know this too.

I know a lot of you have no other means of internet, but hang tight.
In three months Eirecom have to hand over all the lines to outside companys, and we should see better third party offers begin.

In a lot of cases (Like mine) my line was enabeld and I didnt't know.
Give Eircom a ring and check today, the line may have been upgraded since last you checked.

I hope this helps anyone wishing to Dump IBB.

If you think IBB would loose a court case in a heartbeat for lack of service you are very wrong. Their ripwave product is contended at 40:1 on speeds of 521k up and down. So as long as you are getting speeds no less than 13kbps they have not breached any contract.

Default Contract

The contract I am Talking about is the standard 2mb Breeze contract. It involves Aerials, holes being drilled etc, Nobody gets that knowing the service will be crap.

Also, any contract that you can buy of the shelf. Well I cant see that being much better..

If you feel you getting your moneys worth...well good for you.

Default IBB What a Joke

I have been with IBB now for about 4 months now and have never had a satisfactory service.Looking back at my phone bills Ive spent a ridiculous EUR80 on calls to their support line.I had the 1mb breeze connection which in fairness gave me averages of 80k download speeds but alot of the time it didnt work. Then i upgraded to 2mb breeze and then the fun began.10k download speeds.I called them and was asked to send pics of tracert tests ping tests and download tests. This i did 4 times over the course of 2 weeks. The result?Nothing.Just replies telling me the issue was resolved. So 8 days ago i cancelled my direct debit and sent them an email telling them so.Funny thing is im still connected and havent received a call or even an email from them.Their incompetence knows no bounds. They wont be getting a penny from me and I have to agree with JMK i dont think theyd have a chance in court either.Everybody should dump these fools and go with another isp.Im shopping right now myself any suggestions?(im in donegal)

well after having being de-installed for around 6 weeks, they have now sent me a letter from their legal team saying that i have not responded to any of their correspondance (they did not send any..) and i have an outstanding bill of 96 euro, (a call supervisor said they were not going to bill me because the service was not installed correctly in the first place..) anyway this letter says i have 7 days to respond or i am effectively going to be blacklisted and they will pass my debts on to a collection agency....what a bunch of f^cking arseholes Have ever in all your life had to deal with a bunch of idiots like these before because i have not!!

It should be illegal the way they are treating their customers..

Default Bring It On

And If they bring you to court, you can get many many witnesses to say they never provided the service.

I will be one if needed.

I feel that they are now using a cowardly threat to get money from you anoble66.

Stand your ground.

hi

well, i called up their collection department and tore a new ass hole in some poor f^cker. I think the events of the last few months finally made me flip and i let rip at him. I told them that i would pay the outstanding amount but then they had 7 days to transfer it back or i would take them to the small claims court...He went sort of quiet for a long time and ended up crediting my account and told me the account is now closed...so hopefully thats the end of it....

Also just have to say how good my BT 3mb connection is, never drops below 2.57Mpbs and ping RTT of 20ms! Just shows what a ****e network IBB has..

Good luck to all who is still with these fools.

Default get out now

I cant believe that IBB are still getting new customers!

It is through ignorance that they get these people.
When I am asked what is a good provider I always say "Anyone but IBB"

If you know someone with IBB. ask them to take the speed test and see if they are still happy.

I have had several people come back to me after the tests and say they want out of the IBB contract.

Stop the rip off now!

I'm a new customer. I've had IBB (Breeze 2Mb) for just over a week now. I joined up after reading the 80% crappy posts and about 20% good. My thinking was, they're cheap for what I want and I can get rid of them if they are as crap as the 80% have said. Other thinking went along the lines of, of the 80% that have crappy service I'm sure about 20% of them are the usual muppets that would have a problem no matter what broadband company they went to. It still left 60% with valid complaints but I still had 1 month for BT / Eircom to put in a phone line so ADSL was something I was going to have to wait longer for.

When I do the test on this site it always reports my speed as being <1Mb but when I unthrottle my torrents (and I've checked at several different times) I can get over 220KB/s down and anything from 60KB/s - 200KB/s up. I bought my router from eBay though so I can't comment on their hardware which may or may not be a factor in other users problems. It's probably not a factor for most users, I'm referring to the muppets again. I'm in Swords on the Airport mast (I think).

I've no problem complaining if the service goes crap but fingers crossed, touch wood etc. so far I've no need to.

I like many other was getting great service for the first few weeks. And then BANG!. Down she went.

It is a familiar story from most customers, started great but went to hell in a basket fast. Just wait a little while until someone else on your street get IBB Breeze as well. Then you may see the results of a seed test change rapidly.

It was when I seen the Ibb van, installing another connection on my road, that I knew it was curtains fore my service. And when I got home and ran the test ......9k down,,,,,!

Don't get me wrong. I don't want to rain on your parade if you are happy, but be aware that if anything goes wrong...well...your on your own.

As for value!.
I found then nearly twice the price of my current supplier of broadband.

29.99 vs 48.00 !

All the best

Fair enough. I've no idea about your circumstances. I'm still able to get full speed and haven't had downtime once. I'm not the only person on my street. My next door neighbour has it (same building as me, I presume they're on the same transmitter, I know they only use it for work though so they're not big downloaders). There's somebody not far from me in the same estate (I've no idea if they're on the same transmitter as me). Although I've downloaded a fair bit since I got the connection so maybe I'm the new customer that's making it crap for everybody else.

By the way if the link goes crap I'll be the first here to let you know.

Technically 1 extra customer on your link shouldn't cause your link to go to 9k down. When I was signing up I asked the sales guy what their fare use policy was (they referred to it on their website but I couldn't find it). He told me that there was no max download limit but that they may prioritise other traffic (web, email etc.) if I was using the link to the detriment of other users. That sounded fair enough to me.
