Default No IBB Ripwave upload speed!

Since last Thursday I have no upload speed from IBB. As a result, I can't view any secure sites such as AIB internet banking. Rang technical support on Saturday and after freakily speaking with another customer on hold, I was told on two occasions that nothing was wrong at their end. Tried all sorts of tricks and wasted my Saturday messing with the computer. Rang Sunday and a different support employee told me what I knew, that I had no upload speed. Since then it transpires that I'm not the only one and the poblem has been escalated to those imaginary senior technicians! Anyone else experiencing the same? (Living in Ballinteer)

I can't send e-mails either due to lack of upload speed. Just got off the phone to Tech Support, they are 'looking into it'!! I reminded them that as of tomorrow I wll be a week without upload speed. "Lot's of customers are ringing up about it". Oooh, That makes me feel really great! Fix it please IBB! "Which high site is it"? Ehh, Coach House and Three Rock all dead as a dodo, as I told you last Saturday and Sunday. Remember the day you told me that nothing was wrong? Please give me patience!
I forgot to say that the moron I spoke to on Saturday told me to move the Ripwave around the room, despite me getting Green Signals on both Signal Quality and Strength. I laughed at him and suggested that maybe there were leaves on the line. Why do I bother? I should have known it would come to this, I'll have to get Eircon or some other alternative.

Upload speed restored yesterday around noon. 5 days to fix a simple little problem. Way to go!

Default No Upload

THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY RIPWAVE. It is an ongoing problem that has (according to "customer service" affected many customers. It indicates a serious attitude problem at Irish Broadband. The people that we reach are done when they have "escalated" the problem to "second level". They feel that way even if there are no "second level" engineers available and the problem will not be touched for several days.

This means that IBB is not providing a 24x7 service, but a 10x5 service. A company that provided 24x7 service would recognize serious multi-user problems as urgent and not leave them untouched over the weekend or holiday.

Is there a 24x7 service on the market?

Default No Upload WTF?

I cant believe I have wasted hours of my weekend trying to figure out what was wrong with my computer. I have never even heard of no upload speed before. I hate IBB If I wasnt renting I would go NTL. Had NTL in previous home and constant high speed and very good support. IBB make me look back fondly at the days of dile-up.

Ripoffwave seemed to be completely knackered at the weekend all over Dublin. I could only access Google on Friday and Saturday, got through to Tech Support and of course there was nothing wrong at their end, liars. Anyway, around 6 yesterday some sort of service resumed, still no upload speed and hence could not send e-mails or access any secure sites, nor could I post on here to vent my spleen. If it makes you feel any better I was able to shoot down all stupid suggestions by IBB as to what might be the problem at my end. I got a good 20 minutes on the phone with him and I could feel him squirm and cringe at the other end of the phone. I asked him to be straight with me, and tell me there was something wrong and report it to have it fixed instead of lying to me and coming up with ridiculous reasons as to why it wasn't working. I have had a Ripwave for close on two years and it was working reasonably well up until recently and I knew the full gamut of excuses used by IBB.

Don't blame the messenger! Don't harass them. Its the management
that is at fault. They appear to be running a huge network on a shoestring without adequate backup equipment and personnel. The first-line support are often not able to do anything and are your only path to those who can.

Normally I would agree with you, but if they said, we have a problem, please bare with us, we are trying to fix it, that would be fine. But they lie and say that everything is ok and the problem is yours, well they deserve everything they get. They do not even bother passing on the information, so what is their purpose? If you read my post again, I did not harass the guy I just calmly shot down all the stupid stock answers they give.

Angry Last weekend has been awfull

I've had Ripwave for several months and I've been somewhat satisfied with the service.
Allways asumming that it wasn't faster because i'm close to the limit of area covered and the modem has only half of the stripes in signal and quality (I dunno which one is the important).

But last week, specially the weekend I could even browse google for most of the time. I had to try several times to hit every web page.

So I did a little research. Using a tool to do reverse trace lookup I got the name of my ISP (Philsborough) and could orientate the modem. Furthermore, I made the foil antenna to direct the signal, as somebody pointed out in this forum.

I got the maximum signal and still was having problems, even trying getting an IP from the DHCP.
Today it seems to download ok but there is hardly no upload speed, so It is not ok yet.

The only conclusion I get is that the number of users has increased lately and they are overwhelmed.

Its happening again. After about a month of decent (not great) service from Irish Broadband it has become I Wish Broadband again. I have download speeds I can live with and upload speeds that are too low to measure. This is the Clarion Hotel/Limerick Region. Is anyone else having this?

Luckily Dave I signed up for eircon at the start of the month. It's a tenner a month dearer than IBB, but it works and it's consistent and it's miles faster. So I can no longer comment on IBB and their rubbish service!

Default Several weeks now no problems just a bad weekend

Several weeks now no problems just a bad weekend for ripwave
since then everthing goes well
I suspect deansgrange for ripwave is ok as most everybody does line connection with other providers

not sure how long it will be before contension ratios are too hig but for 20 euros per month can live with the problem and still regularly VOIP busters or skpe or South africa so dont need the eircom smart digi or other land lines

Yeah its a drag to lose a weekend but one weekend every few months for this price I can handle

Ralf
