Angry Irishbroadband...wtf?!

i recently got irish broadband, the '1mb/s Breeze package' to be exact. but my god... it sucks! at most it can reach a download speed of 190kb/s, and while TRYING to play WoW my latency hit 13,945!!! WTF!? has anyone experienced such screw-overs? and does anyone have any idea how to get my IB connection to reach even half its supposed speed?! please help..

By the sounds of things you are not alone. I had a very "interesting" experience with them:

Thankfully I have the choice between using them and Netsource, so I've stuck with Netsource

argh... and i probably cant even cancel it due to the 12month contract right? even though my average download speed is .6% of what its advertised? and i've recieved NO customer support. is Digiwew's Metro a good alternative? i have no current phone line and they appear to have free line rental.. i don't know much about these things..

Default IBB Contract

Irish Broadband entered a contract with you, to make a contract binding both parties must comply with the terms of the contract. You must document your efforts to rectify the problem with Irish Broadband. Log your calls to them, save your emails from/to them. Irish consumer law (or protection for the consumer) is weak, so you also have to give them a reasonable amount of time to rectify the problem. After that you can cancel your Direct Debit, then call or email cancelling your arangement with them and tell them to remove the equipment. They won't bring you to court, they would not have a case.
I am in Ennis, I had the same problem with them, the download speeds have improved dramatically, not 1mb but 500 to 800kb. The uploads are still 100 to 200kb. It is the only wireless provider here. As soon as another appears, I reckon a lot of "rats will jump ship"
