Default Breeze in Bray seems to have improved..

I got Breeze 1MB in Bray about three months ago. It was fine at the start. Speed test never recorded 1MB up or down but (mostly around the 750k mark) but online gaming and browsing was fine (nice pings on European servers). Then it went to pot about a month ago: speed test rated it at about 300k on average and I could play online games at all - even online poker was difficult. I decided to upgrade to the 2MB package but before the speed was increased I found that the service improved. The link has now been upgraded and I'm getting a speed test of 1.8MB. Don't know whether it was the upgrade or not but I am now happy with the service.

Anyone else in Bray seen an improvement?

S.

Smile Breeze in Bray seems to have improved..

Yes - It has improved...here's the background...

I've had been in contact with IBB for the last 3 months regarding poor performance issues. They assigned an engineer to the problem who "established" that the cause of the poor performance was network overload (too many subscribers), and they were working to get some new network segments to cater for the capacity demands.

Turns out however (so I'm told) , that when a recent unrelated outage occured on the network, they discoverd that the configuration of the existing segments was suboptimal and once reconfigured, the performance improved greatly.

Can't understand why it took so long for them to figure this out....but at least I'm experiencing some great performance (for the moment anyway!!).

There was an outage last week. Seems to have improved (again) since then.
I have most of my home phones connected to Blueface VOIP - I can always tell when there are QOS problems with IBB as the phones become unusable. When it's good it's good but when it's bad it stinks......still reluctant to get rid of my PSTN line until IBB prove they're not of bunch of amatures.
