Default pings

im on the breeze 1mb in kilkenny, my download speeds are not as bad as most people here, i'm getting a max of 500kb, but my ping is a totally dfferent matter, when i ping my mast i get a minimum time of 33ms and a max of 207ms over 100 pings i get an average of 58ms with no losses. shouldn't pings to the mast be far lower, more like 10ms max. i'm no more than 10 miles from the mast, i sent them an angry email complaining but they havn't answered. is there any way to get them to improve pings?

I am sorry to say I have been in the exact same position you are in. BTW - A ping of under 100ms to the mast is pretty good going for IBB! I had the 2MB service and i was always getting 50-60% packet loss and latency was a joke.

They do not have the infrastructure for the amount of users...dont kid yourself by thinking it will improve - it wont!

I am now on BT, and my ping RTT is 21ms !!

If i can offer you any advice at all, its to go with a different provider.

well this is all i can get for now, as soon as an alternative is available i'm ditching ibb! they don't even reply to my angry emails anymore. but would a different wireless company like digiweb be better or is the whole wireless system a joke, mabye dsl is the way to go, in about 20 years eircom will have enabled my exchange, altho at the moment they can bearly provide a phone service here. is there any good telecomunications company in this country or are they all out to rib us?

i think its comming soon if not here already, but don;t they block online gaming and p2p downloading, digi web are here also i think. ibb is not really bad enough yet for me to cancel my contract, i'll wait till it gets worse or the end of the year which ever comes first.
