Default newbie needs help

hi all,

not very technical but is it normal for server time outs on the system all the time.

I use the cheapie ripwave 24.99 a month and feel like its forever from the time i click till my staus bar finds and starts to dowload a page. This is a little worrying as i have to reload some pages and click on links 2 or three times for anything to happen.

Also is it normal for my router to get disconnected from the service constantly and is 10Mbps the correct speed for the connection direct from the ripwave to the pc. And last but not least when connected to the router i get a constant amber flickering on the 10mbps indicator light is this normal.

I know its alot to ask as a newcomer, but i spent 25 minutes listening to their ads and music and had to give up on customer support for today anyway
Win xp home, 512 mb, 1.9 ghz
mozilla Firefox
us robotics 54mbps wireless router

Thanks in advance for any help offered
regards
mickey

Default ripwave

I've also seen the same connection issues with Ripwave..could be a prob with the modem as a m8 had the same issue and his modem gave up competely. Had to get a new one..it looks like riipwave only connects intermittently and definitely cannot be classed as broadband as it's not always on. Your nic adapter will show up as 10Mb..this is connected to the ripwave modem and this is ok...the flashing ornage light indicates activity on the nic..if you look at the nic in your pc you'll see the same..there is flashing amber/amber/flashing green/green..all of which are related to the various nic speeds and activity..nothing to worry bout there
