Default IBB Download Speeds

I've had IBB's 1mb breeze connection for nearly a year now, and it's been fine up until a couple of weeks ago.

Ever since IBB decided that they were going to upgrade all their 1mb customers to 2mb connections, I've been experiencing horrible upload speeds. My download speed is fine, in fact, since the upgrade it has been consistently at close to 2mb.

On average, my upload speed is worse than a modem connection. I do some web design, and one of the sites I do has a gallery that is upgraded every week. While the files are not that large, there can be quite a lot of them, so it's killing me to have to upload them all at 56kbps, or less.

I tried ringing tech support today, and after hanging on hold for 10 minutes, I explained the problem to the phone agent, and for the next 10 minutes all I got was "Just a minute", only to be put on hold again. I hung up. It was obvious that he didn't have a clue what I was on about and needed to ask someone else.

While I usually have a lot of patience with the guys on the phone, (I did phone-based tech support for the best part of 3 years), there are limits to my patience. I've sent off an email to IBB, so let see what they have to say when they get back to me. (If they do, I'm not holding my breath).

Has anyone else noticed a severe degradation in their upload speeds in recent weeks, and if so, have you had any luck in getting IBB to rectify the problem?

Cheers,
Paul

Yes. I had some severe problems a couple of weeks ago and had terrible trouble getting them to fix it.

There is a thread on the board here [A new twist in the IBB tail] that gives the story. It also includes a dire warning to people like yourself [they will probably try and remove your equipment!!!]

Thanks Curratech.

I had read that thread, and there's no way that they're going to take the equipment away without a fight. Like I said, my download speed is fine, I Just wish they'd sort out the problems with the upload speed.

Cheers,
Paul

It was the same for me. Download dropped a bit but upload was non-existent.

As long as you are aware of the tactics of removing the equipment.

I have heard of quite a few people being trapped by this one. Make sure you are dealing with IBB technicians and not contractors.

Incidentally, I have sent numerous mails to IBB in the past. I have never had a reply.

Phone them, and keep your cool. Stick with it and be persistent. If you hang up, you'll get nowhere.
