Default The IBB Service is a joke

I only wish I had found out about this site before signing up with IBB! I have been with them for a month. Contacting them by email, it took them the guts of a month to setme up with an email account so I could use MS Outlook. They take 5 days plus to respond to any emails you send them. The service is great one day and non existent the next.

It amazes me how they could still be in business offering such a bad service.

Never e-mail IBB. They don't respond.

The phone service is a hell of a lot better than it used to be. Try that.

Default IBB alternative in D2/D8?

I'm with IBB a one location. On the €18.95 package, which I think most people with IBB are on. The speeds are very poor, around 50kps at the very best (<15% of time). Which is unfortunate as I work with Digiweb's Metro service the rest of the time and that comes in REGULARLY at 300+kps for €35 or so I think - the extra €15 is no problem for the service and decent quote. Also the speeds wouldn't annoy me that much but the pings are so handicapping on IBB for just internet browsing; if it takes .5 second just to request the page it isn't long before you're pulling your hair out with just the simplest of web procedures. Is there any wireless alternative to IBB in the Dublin 2/8 area for similar money (excluding Clearwire)? It could just be that the technology can't get goods pings (~35 milliseconds)?

I geuss you have the ripwave package. You try the breeze package from ibb or some equivalent package from another isp. Had a quick look at Broadband.gov.ie - Broadband Home and theres only digiweb and ibb offering wimax in your area. i have ntl myself and its ok though looking at bb forums not all ntl customers are so happy seems to be ongoing nw issues for the last 6 months it seems

I have the ripwave package and am trying to look at an alternative provider. I had eircom broadband on the phone the other day trying to shift their broadband service (probably noticed i was not using dialup any more :-) )
