Default Imag!ne broadband

Anyone thinking of going with them?
They look pretty dodgy to me, considering they already went bust a number of years back when they entered into the home phone market a short while back...

From what I can gather they are reselling the new Eircom DSL product at a tight margin.

Yeah and you certainly have to pay for it.
€50 connection fee
Minimum 6 months contract
Minimum of 3 months cancellation notice
AND they have a disconnection fee :?

They ALL have a disconnection fee if they are using Eircom's network.

It's one of those weird things ....

It seems (I could be wrong) that Eircom charge them, so they have to pass the cost on ...

Default Think your luck ran out

from what I gathered its the telephone package what subsidizes the broadband
So for heavy users of phone they gain

for non users of phone they cant benifit from this type of bundle
Its all a crap shoot in Ireland rip off republic
anyway once you got broadband with skype or voip busters or similar all calls are 2c to most anywhere in the planet including local numbers so its seems stupid to get a telephone package
then also all mobile numbers are 22c most anywhere in the planet at any time which is about the same as most packages day time rates and only a bit more than pay as you go for evening rates
then use your pay as you go for weekend calls if your realy sure that cheaper i suspect not as they got so many ways to rip your face with pay as you go

I recently got Gaelic BB, which is basically the 'imagine' deal, re-branded. Setup was a breeze, and the connection has been great ever since. The 12Gb cap was the biggest I could find at the price, and I wanted as big a cap as possible since we have 2 PC's connected and my g/f does a lot of downloading.
The supplied router has both Ethernet and USB outputs, so we were able to connect up both PCs immediately with just a USB extension cable to go between rooms. The telephony package seems ok too, with cheaper prices than eircom, but we rarely use the landline to make calls anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Default Imagine Broadband Speed

Hi all...I just want to know how are peoples BB speed with Imagine. I'm on the 2Mb package and I getting 1.76 down but only 109 up (2Mb/258Kbps).
Anyone else having any issues.

But I will say that their Cust. Serv is good. No contact with Tech Support, which can only be a good thing.

Also anyone know how to get speed tests from a router (Belkin). I think it's a Sync test.??

Hi Andy - Where abouts are you? I'm with Eircom on Mullingar exchange and have identical speeds to you!! Reported the fault to BB Support over two weeks ago, but still not fixed... When I called early last week for an update, I was told that the engineers were looking into it! From the reference on my fault report was told that numerous people had logged the same fault. Will giv'em another call today, but don't expect I'll get any better info.

Just got off phone from BB support and as I suspected no joy! I was told that the case was still with the engineers and they were "doing their job" lol me thinks not!

Got the poor guy on support well wound up! He told me to ring Customer complaints if I was that unhappy....

The whole thing seems bizzare, why the hell can't Eircom fix it?

Seems like the problem is occuring all over the place, there's another thread on the subject on Eircom Home Plus Upload - boards.ie

I've been using Imagine at home, (not on this location) in Ashbourne for over 12 months, and apart from one occasion when it all went pear shaped for a few days because of a major Eircom fault, I can't complain at all, the speeds are good, and it works reliably.

We're also with them for calls, and on the package we have, no one comes near their UK and Europe call rates, and even though I could get "free" UK calls from other providers, at the level we use it, the overall Imagine package is cheaper than paying a flat rate and then getting "free" calls.

Default Phone calls and broadband bundle is still a rip off con job...

Phone calls and broadband bundle is still a rip off con job even if it is cheaper than all the others

for example I do a lot of international calls all with skype so its cost me nothing except the price for the broadband which is way toooo much

so if I have to take a telephone package with the broad band then I would be getting my face ripped especialy if it was for slow band 1 megs and then a 48:1 contension ratio thats realy twisting your face in the mud

my spanish friends pay 20 euros per month and get 20 megs so they can watch tv make lots of skype calls run lots of compuiters in the house and still not slow the system down

Face it you rjust getting less ripped than buy the real face rippers

No disagreement there, my ISP in Salzburg is paying less for his service than I am for mine, the difference being he's on 100 Mb Optical link!!!!

I'm well aware that the entire telecoms spectrum in this island is a massive rip off, and there's no real competition at all, and unlikely to be in my lifetime, but that's the price we pay for allowing the politicians to get away with the things that they do!!!!!

Default Unlimited package now limited

Went with them two weeks ago and was sold an unlimited package;
I received a letter where it was mentioned my 3Mb package was now
restricted to 20GB, their website said 30GB; I rang them and they told me
it was a mistake and that a letter would be sent with the unlimited service specified/mentioned.
Now I never received that letter, got the password and username today to switch to them and..... same again, they have a limit of 30GB.
Rang them again saying it was no good to me as I was sold an unlimitied package and reassured it was a mistake on their part. Now that I have the
service on I'm trapped. A manager will ring me....
Pissed off. Always a catch.
