Default IT Carlow student originally from Meath

Hey all
My Name is David and i come from Meath, In between Ashbourne, Ratoath and Dunshaughlin. 15 miles form Navan and Dublin. But like always in Ireland I'm not in a broadband area apart from ICE satellite broadband.

At the moment i'm going to college in IT carlow and staying down in a house. While I'm in Carlow I'm able to get clearwire broadband.

It suits me best with my landlord not wanting an aerial on the roof and not wanting to pay line rental on a line that ill only be using for broadband.

It serves me well most of the time with our ment to be 2Mb line but with eight people using it in the house the 20Gb cap gets used up very quickly.

Clearwire don't do like Eircom and charge through the roof for when you go over your limit. They just slow you connection down to below dial up speeds (8-13kbps).

Not that bad really and you get used to not being able to use P2P and bittorrent lol

Well thats my two cents

Hey david, I recently got clearwire also, 2 months ago or that. My main reason for getting it is for gaming. I asked them is it possible to play games on it and they said yea. Thing is, it's barely good enough for surfing the net. I have the 2MB connection also. I download almost nothing and it is not shared. Pings can go as high as 4000. That's playing WoW which requires something like a 56K modem to work.

I have been ringing and emailing them for the last month and only got word back today that they would look into it. Customer service is non existing in my opinion. It's cheap but I would rather pay the extra money for something reliable. I had a 2mb connection with eircom split 4 ways and it was amazing...
