No, you're not the only one. I live in county Limerick and have the same problem with wireless broadband.

Hi Mags
Beats Eircom dial-up, you are right, but how do you find their speed?
I've been monitoring with various independent testers since November 1st and they are way off the mark as regards what I bought into.
There has also been 3 days downtime. 10% approx!

Do you get your service from Moyle Hill or Inch Island?
I am in Ramelton, so I get the signal from Inch.
Are you using VOiP?

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I get the signal from Holyhill. I'm in Fahan. I cannot get the signal from Inch as there are trees.
I have had a few problems about speed over a period of 2 months but i contacted NWE via their website North West Electronics - NWE - Wireless Networks - Broadband and they sent me their speed test. If you are sending your result sent them a screen shot.

Now using Voip at the mo but hope to soon.

MMM

Default north west electronics

Forget about THEIR speed test!

There are countless others available on the net.
Try the one available on this forum.

What do they say when you complain about the slow speed?

Regards
Kevin

They usually check my connection and say everything seems to be OK. Download speeds increase for a few days, until the next phonecall.
Looking at other posts on the forum they aren't as bad as some ISP's.

They dont get as many call or emails compared to what Eircom got.

eircom have 400k subscribers though .... heh. a lot of these wireless isps run their business off of one internet link and start at 10mbps, so you all end up contended with all their other customers. They probably have wireless backhaul to an ESB pop.

What sort of traceroutes do you get to www.irishisptest.com?

Hi Paul,
Here in rural parts of Donegal we have 3 alternatives.
1) dial up via Eircom, our exchange not due for upgrade anytime soon, even though a major broadband scheme has been put into Buncrana and has to pass within 100ft of exchange.
2) Wireless from ESB possible through one internet link
or
3) Satellite at €999 installation

Which one would you choose?
