Default Magnet Entertainment triple-play 8Mb

Just got a new connection with tv-phone-internet and after having to deal
with irish broadband (oh god don't start...) and Smart (wich was good ) I
really have to say that they're the best. The line installation / unbundling
from eircom was real fast and I was online in two/three weeks.
Speeds are very good too; This is what i got today:

Total Averages:
d/l: 4170 kbps (509 KB/s)
u/l: 657kbps (81KB/s)

PING boards.ie - Now Ye're Talkin' (82.195.136.250): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 82.195.136.250: icmp_seq=0 ttl=53 time=39.168 ms
64 bytes from 82.195.136.250: icmp_seq=1 ttl=53 time=46.589 ms
64 bytes from 82.195.136.250: icmp_seq=2 ttl=53 time=34.416 ms
64 bytes from 82.195.136.250: icmp_seq=3 ttl=53 time=35.201 ms
64 bytes from 82.195.136.250: icmp_seq=4 ttl=53 time=91.5 ms

Anywhere from 4170kbps to 6150kbps this morning.
Maybe because the exchange is not too far I dunnow
(Bus depot Cork / Infirmary Road / Douglas Street )

The downside is the price... But in Ireland that's what you
get I guess (Same in France is about 30/35 euro and you
can ring landlines for free in the whole of europe )

Anyway that's it for me thought i'd give me opinion.

That's not great. If you're paying for 8mbit, you should be getting anything upward of 7,000kbps. You can't blame contention, because apparently ADSL2+ doesn't have any! It's supposed to be a 1:1 connection.

I'm using Esat BT's 3mbit package and it's quite good, for me. Some have it bad, some have it good. My connection is most likely at 24:1, and sometimes I experience slumps in the service during peak times, but nothing major to affect what I'm doing. Overall I can expect to get a 2,560kbps reading off the speed test here.

I just can't get over how if you have an 8mbit connection, that you're satisfied with 4-6mbit readings you've been getting. You're paying O.T.T. fees, compared to those in the rest of Europe, especially Sweden (the best broadband in Europe; possibly the world). You should consider questioning Magnet about this.

Sorry for sounding off, but I just couldn't help myself.

Seifer.

I agree, at worst I get 2.4Mbps on 3 MBps package from DIGIWEB on a 36:1 contention. If I got 1.5MBps I'd be screaming....

Yeah I would agree with you but forgot to mention that the
line is split in two with 4 megs kept for the TV and 4 megs
for the internet.
So then it's good.

That changes things lol.

Yeah, if it's split in two, then you're grand out there.
