Default Magnet triple play: update

After four months using their triple play package I have to admit that it's not always satisfactory...
The package is very pricy and you'd expect more:

-The TV connection freezes or is down at least once a week.
-You cannot access the settings of the router.

Having recently bought a Nintendo DS and wanting to play using the wi-fi
feature I found out that the manufacturer (2wire )
disabled customer access and the technical staff cannot either.
All I needed to do was to enter the DS
MAC address in the router so the WEP key would be accepted. Nope.
Forget about port forwarding as well.

When you pay nearly 80 yoyo a month you would expect better flexibility.

Another bad point is network outage/blackout: no tv, no internet, no phone.
Hopefully it only happened once.

The good thing is the quality of their technical / phone support, they've always been helpful and quick to resolve issues.

And last is the channels you get... They said they will add more to the current line-up but so far we don't have More4, Film4, Channel 6, and Five. (and many more I guess )

I'm with magnet now and I find them excellent apart from a few small issues

A couple months back I noticed the direct debit wasn't coming out of my bank so I rang them and gave them my bank details AGAIN.

A week and a half ago I got a letter saying I owe €300 and odd. So I went to the bank and put €100 off it straight away and then rang them and they said they had my bank details but didn't know why the money wasn't being taken from my bank when the money was definitely in there. They said leave it with them and they'll ring me back.......I'm still waiting a week and a half later

With regards to your post about port forwarding and accessing the router settings, you can download a driver for the 2wire router and access the settings via the usb cable supplied with your router.

Default yep

Agree with you, went down that road as well regarding the USB cable to connect to the router but access has been disabled both by manufacturer that provide 2Wire router to magnet and magnet itself.
Plus you would be in breach of their T&Cs even if you could.

No it's definitely not disabled.

I wouldn't mind what they tell you on the phone.

T and C's....... So there telling me by accessing the settings on my router, I'm breaking the T/C's?? I know they say it's their router but the way I see it is I'm using it so I'm entitled to use it to it's full functions.

When you enter the settings, you see the router is blocking a LOT of stuff including heaps of games!

All you have to do when you enter the settings is "select" a game from the list it supplies and allow it through the router or you can add or open ports for p2p

I have full access to my router and I wouldn't have it any other way

Default alright so...

Alright I'm definitely gonna try so. Thanks for the tip!
Can you access TV settings as well? Not that I need the extra
channels since a bug in their services meant that for the past
month or so we have all of them at no extra cost/upgrade. Nice

Yep you can access the tv and network and phone settings

Remember you have to download a driver to your pc first or you will NOT be able to access the settings.

The driver is called "twusb1405.exe".

Enjoy full access to your router
