Down all last night too! No reply from Nova to Monday's email.

TBH if the service I (and others posting here) am getting is being replicated throughout their customer base, I don't see them being in business much longer.

Also, some potential light at the end of the tunnel. Eircom SAY that they will be covering Rushbrooke Links with Wimax in July. Now, I know you couldn't believe a thing from Eircom but it offers some hope!

Edited at the request of Nova Networks to remove references to their staff.

Hi All,

Some very interesting comments from everyone on this thread.

I've seen a varied service from Nova - but when I have contacted them it is usually sorted. It's going ok at the moment, but a little slower than usual (peak times especially). Like some of you I was told no limits, but I think that has changed. I do dl a lot - I didn't get bb just to read my emails..!! It seems to get much better when my direct debit clears....!! I did have serious problems getting any sort of connection when I started - and sometimes recently I just get cut off (as if I'm reaching a limit). But so far (touch wood) it's reasonable. I just want an affordable service that delivers.

Don't we all...?

one thing if you were told no limit so it should be no limit nova doesn't have the right to change the agreament without an agreament with you, if they did so then it is illegal.

also broadband should be allways on not up and down. If they are up and down that mean they are not doing a great job or there infrastructure are not enought big to handle the trafic generate by there customers.

And just an inside trick ... that you download 1 GB or 500 GB doesn't cost them much the download caps are only here to limitate your use of it ...

Man nova is everything but not affordable 89 € for 3 MB, i pay 64€ for 6MB in smart and it is allways on and the 4MB (the lowest offer) is 40 €

anyway when i take a look about what other country get with internet (like France where you can get 28 MB +HDTV over IP + Ip phone the whole for 30€ or noway who got 50MB fiber to home)
i think there is a big deal to do here regarding internet ... especialy regarding the market.

Thanks for your reply, Karlos.

Everything you say makes sense. My download speed at the moment is about 200 kbps average whereas it usually hits about 1400 kbps.

My direct debit cleared this morning so I'm expecting to get back to normal. I'm on a 2m up 2m down at €49 (inc.VAT).

I took so long to deregulate the broadband market from Eircom, and it's a pity the ISPs here are not as competitive as their European counterparts.

I thought Smart had folded...?

They came out to me on Monday and replaced my box (the one inside by the computer) and upgraded the firmware on the aerial. Been mostly ok since then - a few brief outages and a bit slow last night. A major improvement over previously - so far, at least. Nowo - where in the Links are you? They apparently replaced a backhaul link from Rushbrooke to Currabinny last Friday so things should have improved.....

Default Come On Nova...!!

I spoke to them today, thru a 'side door/window' ( (Hi Ger...!!) )

They have a few technical problems at the moment apparently....

I will give them the opportunity to get it 'connected' and free-flowing because they have always been fair to me so far.

WATCH THIS SPACE......

Default Only Half?

Still waiting...........

I seem to be on only half of what I used to be. 12Mb per minute download. It was much better than that before...

Shall I only pay half my direct debit if I'm only getting half the service...?

Over to you, Nova.........

I mean I can download a 12 megabyte file in about a minute.

Three different speed tests give me different results but all are lower than they used to be.

Very impressed with Nova though... They're looking into it....!!

The latest....

A week ago today Nova came out to me, replaced the unit and now I don't have any connection failures. They upgraded the software and did some speed tests.

I've been monitoring for the past week and I am getting constant bandwidth. MySpeeds are around the T1 mark and I can download about 12MB a minute. My average speed seems to be about 235KB/s. That should be about right, shouldn't it..?

Service I have got from Nova is excellent. It probably wouldn't be as good from the larger service providers, so if it stays that way I won't hesitate to renew my contract in July.

As usual, I come back here when there was a problem. This time it was at my end, with a virus. And nothing to do with Nova.

I just thought that I'd say that my opinion of Nova has just gotten better and better. There connection has only been down once or twice since Christmas and it's only been for a few hours. The speed is great and I've always had good to great connections to game servers.

I would reccommend Nova Networks. It seems if a serious problem occurs then they can be a bit slow, but compared to any of the large ISPs, they're superb.

good to see isp's replying, frankly id prefer to comment in forums or pm's instead of ringing up and complaining about problems- unless theres a real reason to do so... i wish all isp's would signup here instead of hiding in the shadows and spying...come on joinup and point ur views, ur customers are waiting lol,
