Default NTL Speed Increases

Judging by some reports we've been getting it looks like NTL have increased speeds for all their customers in Dublin.

Can anybody confirm the new speeds that they are getting?

NTL's service has been upgraded to 10mb in the Uk for a one off modem upgrade charge and they have reduced the the Monthly charge so we can expext them to follow with the same offer here soon as that always seems to be what happens.

If you ring support here and ask them you will find that you know more than they do at the moment but no doubt there will be something in with the next bill as soon as it's launched here.

I'm not sure why anyone could need 10mb at home anyway the 3mb is fast enough as most sites don't have the upload speed to allow you to download stuff fast anyway.

Not likely to have any relevance to NTL Ireland anymore as NTL UK has absolutley nothing whatesoever got to do with them anymore they were sold off.

NTL Ireland's owned by Liberty Global and is only trading under the NTL brand as a stop-gap measure until rebranding happens in 2006.

Liberty had some regulatory approval to get past, so NTL Ireland was purchased by their bank (Morgan Stanly) and held in cold storage until the regulator approved the deal.

Liberty also own Chorus.

The two companies are to be merged fairly soon and relaunched as UPC Ireland.

Default NTL Connection Speed increases in Dublin

Blacknight,

I live in Dublin and have what i thought was a 512 KBPS connection from NTL.

After some recent tests, pinging servers as far away as Japan,I am confident

my connection speed is actually somewhere betewen 2750 and 2900 KBPS.

I confirmed this after by downloading a large file in seconds, not minutes.

It appears christmas has come early for NTL broadband customers in Dublin

this year.

As I said in my eariler post NTL have upgraded in the UK and we always follow them. I just got a call yesterday to say their fitting a new cable modem next week and the speed increase will happen end of Jan early Feb and I'm guessing it will be 10mb aqs in the uk. We also have access to their Broadband Plus service for free with the top packages which is great for music video and a lot more stuff, I have had access to this for overa month now. You will find the link on http://www.ntlworld.com/ in the quick links at the top and you need to turn off your popup blocker on this page to get access.

Default NTL 6mb it is.

Just checked my 3meg line, it's now reporting 5.65mbps down and 546kbps up.

It used to come in at about 2.95mbps down, 289kbps up.

It will be good to see a increase in the upload speed I don't think
the download speed will make much of a difference, as 3mb is fast enough

Default Ntl

Have spoken to NTL and was told that the upgrade from 3meg to 10meg will be automatic with no fee for 3meg customers.
