Default Upstream speeds and SMTP transfers

Now, we all know that as part of its "anti-piracy" policy, Clearwire is severely crippling upstream connections. They must truly believe everyone is uploading illegal material, hence their paranoia about peer-to-peer.

So, I have got used to the fact that, despite paying a whopping 50 euro a month, using FTP transfers to the workplace or even connecting to my VPN is no use (it worked back two years ago before they where bitten by the "the majority of our users are thieves who want to be online to exchange illegal material" bug).

However, in recent times I have noticed that even SMTP transfers are now excruciatingly slow. I can hardly email any attachment via email anymore. Anything even as small as 200-300 kilobytes takes forever to transfer. Is it only me or a general problem with the company?
