Got bad news for you.
IBB are the worst possible con I have ever seen, I myself have posted many threads here warning people about them. It's true that they will NOT reply to your calls or mails unless you spend an hour on hold. This is a old company ploy to get rid of complaining customers, and you normally only find small dodgy plumber firms etc. pulling this stunt.
The Idea behiend it is that if you call during working hours, chances are you are on a lunch break or a company phone, this in turn means that your time is limited, as you want to eat or you dont want the boss taking your head off for being on the phone for over a few mins.
This way you are forced to wait until you get home to ring, and at that stage, you will get the "we are sorry, but office hours are between,,,etc", this now means if you do hold for ages and get a answer, they can just say that there is no one there that can help you until the morning!.
And Furthermore, if they are forced to ring you back, they make sure to ring your home number. as that way it is less likley that they will have to talk to you, because during these hours you are most likley at work.
In a court of law you are asked did you exhaust all forms of communication and did you get a response.
They can now say that they rang but you never returned the call!.
This covers them so you have no argument if you claim you were ignored.
They are very aware of what is going on. it was planned and they have made Millions from all the subscribers they managed to get. But only a handfull are happy. This however is enough to keep them open.
I myself on the last call asked how many times I had been logged as calling. I was told, three including this one.
I made over 40 calls.
In the end I just told the bank to cancel the direct debit.
Couple of tips.
keep screen shots of the up/down speeds and keep the as it is proof that you have had bad or no service.
Hold on to your phone bill to show how long you were on the phone.
When you do get through, Have a pen and paper handy, ask for the name of the person you are speaking to.
Dont be afraid to cancel the direct debit, It is not illegal, it just means you are WITHHOLDING PAYMENT, and not refusing.
Dont let them bull you about a breach of contract, they are well aware that they are in fact, in breach of contract with you!.
Bear in mind that eircom have upgraded a lot of the exchanges, so check your area availability.
In the end if all else fails.... Dialup was faster and more reliable then
IBB!.
I hope this helps anyone who feels cheated by
IBB. There is no point hoping they will get better as promised, they wont.
