Stay Well Clear Of Ice Broadband.

I have moved to DSL and have never looked back.

Terrible Customer Service.
Terrible Ping Times.

A neighbour still uses them and the problems I had still seem alive and well on his connection.

The customer service is dire, and their accounts processing people are the pits, in that they can't get invoices out on time and accurate, but the broadband package itself is working to spec, and does what it's supposed to.

I'm still waiting for the exact technical spec of the new phone service, in that I want more than one line with hunting, and getting an accurate answer to that seems to be problematic at the moment.

They've just moved locations from Finglas to the North West business park, hopefully that means they can now get their act together.

Thanks for the info mate the only thing that interests me is the QOS, as for the admin and tech support we can only hope it improves with time and with the move to new offices.

Hello,
Im with Ice broadband in the swords area and I have to say the service is quite poor. I am a customer for about 6 months now and for the first 2 months the connection was great, but went seriously down hill after that.Ive recently been upgraded to the 3mb download and 1mb upload but for me nothing has changed! Im still only getting around 1mb down and even worse upload speeds. But its the qos that is the worst, rarely if ever above 20-30% and it seems the connection is too eratic to support voip or xbox live which is the main reason why I wanted the broadban in th efirst place...

Funny you should say that mate i had ice for 3 months over the winter and had 2 months of flayless BB with excellent up and down speeds then out of the blue lost all connection completely. I was on the very edge of the mast in lispopples range and the best excuse that could be found for my problems was seasonal growth meaning as the trees started to put on leaves it was blocking the signal and i lost connection. They are extending their coverage soon in my area of St. Margarets and it either them or clearwire which i have at the moment and believe me clearwire is complete rubbish so Ice it is and hopefully they can match the previous connection i had because as i said it was excellent.

For the first time since it went in, our speeds have gone down the pan today, apart from that, we're on lispopple mast, and for months now, to here anyway, it's been rock solid stable and reliable.

I was talking to them yesterday about an unrelated issue and at last I got the impression that they are getting their act together. The accounts side have at last caught up with the backlog if nothing else.

I'm waiting for a reply to the speed query at the moment, I don't think it's weather related, so all I can hope is that it was a capacity issue that's now been sorted, and that things will be back to normal very soon.

Re St Margarets, I was informed yesterday that there's a mast at the back of Swords, (Supervalue at the top end of River Valley estate) so that might provide coverage out there, depending on which end of St Margarets you are.

Thumbs up Update

Speeds are better again today, and as a result of a quick chat with Tech support, we've now been moved to the new speed package, and I'm seeing a reliable 3 down 1 up speed today, after a few wobbles first thing this morning.

For what it's worth, and there will be a few people who this affects, the Ashbourne area is having performance issues and a new update to the base is going in next week, so that should solve the speed issues there.

I am very happy to be able to say that it seems that after some very rocky times a while back, ( which didn't affect us here to be fair), Ice do seem to have turned the corner, and are getting their act together again. Long may it continue

Steve

good to hear mate i will over the next month or so become once again an Ice customer as they are planning to extend into my area with a new proposed mast and hearing this kind of thing is very encouraging. The main thing i need is qos and low pings with minimal packet loss for gaming and voip but so lets see how it all goes.
