Unhappy Amocom

Has anyone had any experience with Amocom? Wireless provider based in Cork... I'm not a happy customer!

I used to use their service but recently switched to Nova Networks. I can't say that I was hugely dissapointed with Amocom but I think they recently changed management and this seems to have affected their service.

As for Nova, well I have hit the first big problem with them so I'll let ya know how it goes.

Thumbs up Got it yesterday

I've just had Amocom installed yesterday, and in fairness, they came out to install the day after I put in the order, however, the guy didn't complete the installation properly and it took another callout to finish and configure it. All in all it took 6 days from placing the order to having a working connection, not bad at all in my book. Tech support seems a bit disorganised but response to calls has been good and call backs, if promised, were made. Pity their website isn't more up-to-date, their home package 1 /512 is 40 Euro incl. VAT, not the cheapest bunch but beggars can't be choosers, they are the only crowd offering BB in my neck of the woods (incidentally not on the coverage map at all, they cover North Cork as well with the mast being in Bweeng).
So far (after one day :-)))))))) I am getting consistant speeds between 750 and 1100 mbps with 1 /512 service, not bad at all and a very happy camper. Hope it continues the way it started ...

Just an update - after half a year of AMocom I am still very happy - a few outages (2 actually) lasting about 1 hour but generally reliable bb. No run-ins with fair use policy either but then I am not a heavy downloader. Noted recently a speed upgrade I am now getting consistant d/l speeds around the 1. 3 - 1.5 Mbps mark :-)

Smile Amocom Ok

I've had Amocom in Mallow for about 14 months now. No problems with them.

Service delivered and wired up in 5 days.

One of the wires in the ethernet plug pulled out and snapped after about 3 weeks, on a Sunday. I rand customer service Monday at 12.00. At 14.00, they rang back and said that one of their people would be out at about 18.00. At 17.00, the tech guy rang me and said that he was running very late- he could call at 21.00 or at 8.00 the next morning. I said the next morning would do. He actually called at 8.10, and fixed problem directly. No problems whatsoever since.

i'll check my speeds when I get home and post back here when I get them.

OK, speeds are: 1.6Mbps down, 650Kbps upload. Meant to be a 1mbps down/ 512 upload.
These were tested with a third party as the speedtest on this website does not seem to be functioning at this stage.

Still getting around 1.5-1.6 up, 600-650 down. I note from my invoice that speeds are listed as "up to 2 mbps". Given teh recent furore over various mobile solution speeds, I reckon that 80% of max is pretty good...
