Ice are also using 89.16.xx.xx as they offered me this ip to try but service was just as bad with it .Try tracert to 213.168.233.1 ie there router and let me know what the results are
I was told the Maynooth area is getting an upgrade via some new hardware. I asked by when and was told by the latest this Friday. I rang this morning in a very unhappy state. Not my ideal start to a morning.
I was assured that last weekend a temporary measure was to be put in place but as a result of hardware arriving they didn't bother installing last week. (I didn't get the details of what hardware exactly). An upgrade in capacity from Maynooth is the end result anyway.
The link between maynooth and the rest of the ICE network is over subscribed and has been for ages. I can definately confirm this and all data confirms this.
Anyay I asked what areas this affected and Ashbourne was mentioned too. You in either of these areas? I am hoping that this will mean the end of the issues we are seeing. Till then I am using my 3G data card more than I ever intended to.
A simple notice on their website would not go wrong I think everyone would agree. Simple customer relations.
I am sick of chasing them, if it is not fixed by Friday I will be forced to use my 3G data card exclusively.

hi guys,
just to let you know,
my speeds have been Good (1.8Mb down, 1.5 up)since Fri 7th Nov.
I was emailed to see if they had improved by tech support on Fri so I guess its only fair to let them know tomo.
my speeds had been terrible since i connected at end Oct.
I am in North county dublin...near Swords.
i hope it lasts though, going by other users experience ...once its fixed it lasts a short time then reverts to ****sville.
i hope you all get sorted soon.
Will keep an eye on your progress.
P.S.
I will expect another free month AT Least for all the hassle and losss of bussiness !

VERY strange indeed, in that if I do a tracert to the router, it's coming back in less than 5 ms on the first hop. It looks as if the route to Icecomms from other masts is tortuous in the extreme, which does not altogether make sense at the moment.
I'm up to my eyes in other work, so I can't go digging at the moment, but it seems that someone needs to.
..thats ok Bercon, you only promise forklifts, not diggers :-)
I am now on my eircom 3 MBps service (24:1 contention instead of 16:1 contention on 3 MBps with Ice).
Before I switched over I ran a speed check on Ice and was getting 350Kbps download, which is at the top end of terrific from my experience with them so far (I have been down to 2.4 Kbps). I just ran the same test on my eircom line and am getting 2.045 Mbps download, so its looking like a good move.
But I will post here again after a few weeks of usage. I feel a bit flat about having to go with the big corporate over the little startup - I had no choice though.
Fair play to you I say, I could not get broadband elsewhere and it is the only reason I have not moved months ago. Don't feel too bad about the little startup, they are no longer that and the attitude has changed greatly as a result towards their customers in my opinion recently.

I have been moved already and the service is still crap. It is nearly Friday and I was promised at the latest it would be back to service as usual by this Friday.
We will wait and see, I just don't believe a word I hear from them anymore (with good reason so far).

heres a quoate from the reason i was given for the last months non-service as i call the v slow speeds i was recieving near swords
''The problem was with frequency separation between
us and other fixed wireless equipment. There was an overlap of frequencies,
but due to the complexity of the technology it was difficult to pinpoint the
overlaps. New equipment on a different frequency band was the only solution
but had to be programmed and commissioned which created the delay. I can
assure you that we worked as fast as we could and that this issue is now
resolved.''
Bookies have started paying out on ICE letting me down again!!

I have the 2mb connection also, for the last two weeks the download speed has been absolute crap.for 2 months prior to this I was getting a constant download speed of 1.83mb every time day or night, I was more than satisfied with that.Current speed is a ridiculous 46k.rang support and they told they we're upgrading the equipment on their mast in derrinstown, I was told my download speed should be back to normal on the 22nd of November.(not bloody likely) I can't fathom how their service has become so unstable in such a short period of time.will get rid of if no improvement by then

It's not all bad, and the comments about the spectrum overlap are very revealing, and explain a lot. The people that allocated the frequencies in the first place have a lot to answer for, but guess what, that's a semi state, and I know from experience dealing with them over problems with cable TV systems, they have very little in the way of teeth, or real experience in sorting out these sorts of problems, and the bottom line is that it wasn't really ICE's problem to find or fix, but they were the ones suffering as a result.
Regrettably, a typical situation, caused by lack of real control or knowledge in the semi states area. Why does that not surprise me!!!!

I realy dont know where you are coming from with this bull****.Whatever mast ,whatever county there seems to be problems with ICE as of late and that is the bottom line.I your vast experience can you explain why these crawls and time outs seem to occur In evenings and weekends when heavier traffic is occuring and not during the day when you seem to be online.
