Our service provider who is based in London who provides our main link to
the internet had issues over the weekend and effected customers on a
public IP address. This issue is now resolved.
Let me know if the problem still exists for you.

Are you still able to ping IP addresses when you set your pc to the static IP address? What I mean by this is can you access xx.xx.xx.xx when set up with a static IP address even if you can't access google.com?
It would probably speed things up greatly if we could contact you to troubleshoot this issue. Would you be able to provide a phone number at which you can be reached and the time of day that would normally suit you to receive a call?

Down at the moment - switched to dynamic IP
The server at Google is taking too long to respond.

I was promised a resolution to my fixed IP issue, details below. Someone was due to call me back each day at 3pm, this didn't happen once.
At the moment I have a number of sites that I can't used my fixed IP for, including google search. Some days I can't use the fixed IP for the entire day.
So, I swap from fixed to dynamic, a bit of a pain.
Can we resolve this issue please.
Also, having connection issues on both fixed and dynamic at the mo, ping & jitter are a bit poor for the last week or so.
Directly connected dynamic IP.

The engineer, XXXXX, whom you were speaking with had to take an unexpected
leave of absence. I will follow up with you and call you tomorrow. What
time suits you for a call. If its not too much trouble could you give a
brief overview of your problem and what has been done to resolve it to
date.

I work from home, so need a fixed IP to get through the firewall (UK). My setup here is that I have a wireless router with the fixed IP details in, which works fine other than the items below.
If I plug in directly to the PC (which I dont like doing, no firewall), it gets a dynamic IP.
About a month ago there were a number of sites that started to fail, Google for example. Others include:
My issue is that I have to have a fixed IP for work, so I am constantly swapping from fixed to dynamic IP, quite painful, especially since if I forget I can't receive mails.
Secondly, my VOIP has been more than flakey for the last week or so, high jitter, high pings, regardless of IP.
Call me anytime today on xxxxxxxxxx.
Regards,

6 days and not a word from you, I work from home so I am nearly always in during the day. I can't even update my own server without flicking to dynamic IP (www.xxx.com). I'm off on hols for 3 weeks from tomorrow, I really hope this will be resolved by then.

Hello Jason,
I have escalated your issue to our head network engineer.
i same problem as you have with broadband i understand permanet are looking at service provider in lerland ?????
what do you of this ??
when are going high service like 5-10mg ????
Have applauded them publicly in the past so only fair that I criticise them publicly too, especially when I am paying for a business package and they have had nearly 3 months to resolve the issue.
Not a massive pain, just very annoying, constantly having to switch from fixed to dynamic to poll my own mail server is madness.
It looks like the matter is now resolved, that it, it has been fine for a few days now.
Have to say that in the end the support was excellent too. I know the mail above shows them dropping the ball, however, they have gone out of their way to resolve this issue.
I get so wound up as in the daytime the radio on itunes works perfectly and as soon as people come home from work/school and you really want to relax and listen to internet radio it is unable to play smoothly a station at 56kbps.
Are there any other companies that don,t have such a diluting contention rate as permanet? Is it too much to ask for
I have never had any contention issues, other than the problems stated above the service has been better than that of most people I know, suggest you get the equipment checked.
get a new ISP! tried contactng them about a upgrade in my pack, they dident respond so now they r losing my service
altho its been perfect here they never take calls. its very much take the money and run with them, any problem is your problem
I disagree with that, they have called me plenty of times <although they shouldn't need to IYSWIM> about issues, normally a mail asking for an engineer to call you responds with a call.
As for me, there are 2 other ISP's I can go with and both have horrific write-ups on the net (one being Ice).

What I know for sure is that roaming services are very expensive for all users around the world, regardless of the mobile provider they use. That's why I've chosen CallinEurope, they achieve the same effect as international roaming with a major difference – they are much cheaper.
Seems this is almost certainly not a permanet issue. The flaw in finding the fault is that I have 2 routers, both identical.
The belkin F5D8321 is a .N router with all the latest toys, and a flaw. The flaw (not admitted to by belkin support) is that certain sites (commonly google owned but otherwise random) suddenly are not available. I have seen reports of this on a few sites.
I have updated my firmware with the beta, which one chap sent me a PM about saying this fixes the issue. Time will tell.
So to Chris et al at permanet...
Sorry Guys, but thanks for the help.
Of course, I'll be back in a couple of weeks to report if this resolved the issue.
i think i'm suffering from contention issues at the moment. During the day it's brilliant but evenings and weekends especially its very bad. At the moment (sat night 9.50pm) only getting 200kpbs max download. I'm on the 2mb biz package and in the north kerry area. Can't even watch youtube. Very dissappointing
Anyone else with these problems?
