happy days ham radio happy days

wouldn't 4mb be even sweeter

Last year some time I tested my speed and was getting 5mb download. PermaNet must have been doing maintenance or whatever, but anyway it lasted for a couple of hours. Amazing speed!

Hats off to PermaNet - they upgraded their network in the South east on News Years Eve, speeds have been back to what we pay for since then. You can understand their need to grow the business and hence place load on their network, its good to see that maintianing the balance between growth and service is part of their focus.

(And no, I have not affliation with them other than being a customer).

I called them about this a while ago and they have no plans to lower price. This is a shame, I like Permanet, but as soon as Eircon come to town, I will move, just for the download speed. However, if Permanet dropped the higher price of the 4Mb connection then I would stay no bother.

BTW, it looks like Permanet monitor these threads, so it might be worth starting a "Permanet 4Mb - lower price" thread! Anyone interested?

Have to agree about the pricing, I'm on the Biz 2mb for €42 pcm (€502pa), I'd love the 3 and ever 4 mb connection but for €85 and €120 pcm each (€1020 and €1440 pa) its hard to justify. But i guess that's the price you pay when supply is low and demand high...until more rural exchanges get converted.

Hi - I'm in wexford, with permanet from white mountain.

For the past couple of days my connections has been dropping for a few seconds and then coming back on. Not a huge concern for web browsing, but a touch annoying for games that timeout and IM programs that log you out.

I've checked my router, don the usual power down and back up on the modem and aeirl power supply. I've also switched from static IP address setting to dynamic - nothing changes.

I've an email to permanet just now, but was wondering in the meantime if this is effecting anyone else in the area?

Cheers

Default Permanet White Mountain

Hi,
I'm also on the White Mtn. broadcast and my Speed has been dismal lately, I'm on the 2mb biz package and my download speed is around 600 - 900, not 1500 as I'm supposed to get.
I've emailed tech support and I've been asked to check my speed on this site at different times and mail them back
