Default poor speeds from permanet in kerry

hi there i am currently subscribed to the biz 2 MB package with permanet. i am living in Kerry and i am connected to the Sliabh Mish mast. up until recently permenet have been quiet good. i usually get 1440 KB down and 490 KB up all day. even at peek times the speeds rarely dropped below 1.3 MB down. but over the last few weeks speeds have gone very bad mainly at night around 8.00 pm to 11.00 pm. some nights i would be lucky to get 300 KB down and that would not be stable either it would be very erratic for example if i do a speedtest it would start at 200 KB then go to 500 KB or 600 KB and then back down again. also ping times and max delay or download pause has got much higher even during day it is always over 100-200 ms. have emailed permanet about this and they responded by telling me that they were "We are investigating a possible speed issue" and they would expect to have a conclusion within the next 3 - 4 weeks so i weighted a weak or so and then i emailed them again and they said. "We are still investigating a possible speed problem. We are waiting for a shipment of equipment to arrive. This will be deployed on Sliabh Mish and will allow us to fully understand where the network congestion if any is occurring." i am not sure if they are actually going to do anything about this and i was just wondering if anyone else was having these problems on the Sliabh Mish mast.

I'm off the same mast myself and on the 3mb Biz package ... have not noticed any issues regarding speed especially between 8pm-11pm but will have a look tonight and see if the speed drops

I'm having the same issue over the past few months on the Knockanure mast, speeds very low during peak times. They have assured me that they are investigating the situation

Yes speeds from permanet are a complete disaster at the moment. Today I upgraded my package from the biz 2 MB to the biz 3 MB which costs over 85 euro a month but I hoped that it might solve my problem. IT was working fine up until about 6 pm and then bang. Download speeds want very bad. It is now 8.35 pm and I am only getting 568 kb download and 463 upload and a ping of around 85. This is absolutely ridicules for the price that i am paying and I am sure I would get better speeds from the likes of Kerry broadband or Irish broadband.

I wouldn't pay e85 a month for BB. My speeds are so bad now in the evenings (100kbps-200kbps) that I don't even go on it anymore after 6pm.

Hows people's speeds lately? I'm surprised with the truely horrendous speeds over the past few months and there doesn't seem to be much happening as well as no activity here with new people complaining. This is my speed from about 5pm every evening on 2mb

these are the speeds i am getting at moment and that is on the biz 3mb package. permanet said that they are heavly conjested in my area so they are going to do some upgrade on the mast. they said that it should be done in 2 to 3 momths. at the moment they have reduced the monthly bill to 25 for me so i will stay with them for a while longer.

these are the speeds that i am getting now but i guarentee that down will be at about 700kb tonight. and georged200 if you are getting speeds that low enen off peek then i think you dish might be out of line with the mast. you should ring permanet and ask them to check it.

i last emailed permanet on 7-5-2009 and they said that the problem should be fixed in 3-4 weeks so it sould be fixed round about now and i also asked about new packages with better prices and they said that they will be launching new packages when the upgrade is complete. they are going to have to do something about the prices bacause i am certainly going to move to kbb if they dont give better speeds and cheaper packages. have you asked them anything about these cheaper packages

I haven't asked them yet. I totally agree with you though about the prices. I'm paying the same prices since they started in 2006. Also, since eircom has enabled alot the exchanges around I can now also get up to 7mb for e35. So really, 1.4mb for e42 is fast getting expensive. I definitely would stay with them if they do improve the speeds though.

Have they said what type of packages/improvements?
