Speeds in the evening are still horrendous. The fact that skype is crap on it, they'd really want to be working on this issue and not a phone service!

Aye, it has been pretty terrible here the last week or so, keeps dropping connection pretty regularly, and speeds are horrendous.

Does anyone know if there are upgrading their network, or is just gone to sh!t all over?

I'm on biz platinum 4Mbit with Permanet, at the moment I've also been getting around 0.5Mbps download and 0.4 upload.

To say I'm miffed is an understatement after all the downtime at xmas too and considering the price I'm paying.
I've emailed support and apparently they plan to have it fixed sometime early March.

I'm also getting terrible speeds,About 1/4 of my advertised speed..
Hopefully They're routing all the traffic through another network and updrading the one we're on,As I've been told an upgrade will be happening soon!

Also,As far as I know the PermaTel service will be using independant bandwidth aside from your package,Meaning you can be downloading and streaming youtube videos while on the phone(An issue we have with blueface),If this now isn't the case, I wouldn't change as I'd assume the prices will be the same as blueface..It does mean that permanet would need to install the SIP router and therefore you could be waiting a while depending on the popularity.

I am looking forward to seeing the packages and prices though!

I work from home and need to use VOIP a fair bit.
The VOIP service may be very useful indeed to me so I'm undecided what to do now. My jobs at risk if the service stays this way too long.
I don't see why I should pay for february at full price if I only get 1/8th the speed for the rest of feb. Does anyone on the forums use digital forge?
Is it having similar issues? ie do they share the same antenna etc as permanet?

Dreadful. Absolutely dreadful.
Permanet are utter ****e at the moment, with all the disconnects and very slow speeds, and with the below average package offerings by the them now. I dont know what they are up to, but they seem to be degenerating into a woeful shambles of an internet provider

I'll give it til the end of the month and cancel if there's no change I think.
I get a better connection if I use my mobile phone...
I can't justify paying the price for biz platinum anymore.

I had the same problems in Tralee but changed to KBB.All fine so far. They waived the connection fee because I was previously with Pnet.

Heh, seems to be more of a downgrade these past few weeks.
I wouldn't mind so much, if they at least gave us more/better information as to what they are doing, on their website or twitter even. The website by them is tragic, surely they could do a better job of it.
At the moment, i am getting random drop of connection, where speed goes down a lot for abit (or completely stops) then it can go back to normal again.

Still getting crap speeds, I was told permanet has been over subscribed due to their new packages/prices and as a result they were in negotiations to get more bandwidth.

I think until such a time they should reduce the package price of everyone who suffers this contention as a good will gesture.. I have a friend using mobile broadband with a better connection than me! What a joke!

Here's a screen capture of my speedtest ranging from the 9th of April till today.

I pay for a 2mb connection and the average of those connections 1.005556 Mb/s
just .5 kb/s quick that permanets Home package.. So it raises the question why are we still being charged for packages with a speed I rarely get?

Heh, pretty pissed off now atm with permanet, i went most of April with very bad speeds, constant disconnects, and now it is completely not working, no connection at all for 8 daays now. Although this latest problem, i think may be a problem with the aerial psu (i actually checked voltages and connections though and it looks fine... but i dunno)
So i sent them an email last sunday, and all i got back so far is automated response.
Is anyone else having problems like this at the moment?
At the moment, i am borrowing my brothers 02 mobile connection, and tbh, it is better than permanet connection has been last few weeks, when it actually did connect sometimes.

Hmm it seems my speeds have picked up! It's Friday @ 9pm an internet contention hotspot and i'm getting 1.8mbps and a 28 ms ping! Usually it would be 50ms and .8mbps.. After visiting their site it seems they're in the process of releasing their phone service and maybe with this has come upgraded backhaul.. I'll be hopeful but if it's true, Good job Permanet!
