Smile Connecting Netgear wireless Router to BT

Folks,
I have a DSL wired connection with BT to my PC (works great). I got a PS3 and wanted to purchace a wireless router as the PS3 is in a different room to the PC. One of the lads in work had a spare Netgear router (WGT624) and gave it to me. I can't get onto the internet. I can get to the configuration settings on the router and have tried various different types of settings using my BT username & password. Can anyone help?
thanks

How is the DSL connected? It's connected to the phone line. It's a standard DSL modem that BT supplied.
How is the wireless router connected? It's connected via an ethernet cable to the PC, and a cable connects wireless router to the DSL modem. (PC -> wireless router -> DSL modem). A friend reckons I have not supplying the correct IP address. I will have another go at it and let you know how I get on.

Hi, try this

1) Unplug Modem
2))Remove Enet Cable from Modem
3) Put in 'Orange' Port of Router--Leave other end in PC.
NEW CABLE
1)One end into Modem
2)Other end into Internet Port- Router
3)Reconnect power to Modem - Wait at least 30sec for Modem to power up
4) Connect Power to Router - Wait at least 60sec

Go to NETGEAR Support Home Page

Default broadband wireless

Hi ,
Ensure that you switch off the dhcp "server" on the wireless netgear router as otherwise you have two dhcp system talking to your pc's and ps3..

what you need to do is to connect the modem network cable into the wireless router
disable dhcp in the wireless router and that should be it
