Surfing Speed

Hi

Early this week the computer speed for surfing the net was very (crawl) slow.
Im using NTL broadband for the past number of months.
Ran a speed check through this site and all seemed normal.
When downloading a file from say microsoft (its a bullet) great.
When I trying to get into any site say (gmail / aerlingus / etc) (crawl) slow.
Could not find anything unusual with the settings in explorer 7 or Mozila.
Ran AVG 7.5 Full (No Virus) / Ran AVG Anti Spywear (Was Ewido) No spywear.
Maybe a virus that wasnt' found !!!!!

OK: Due a clean up anyway (Format HD and install XP Pro) Yep Done.
Updated and Installed from Microsoft ( Ready to go again)
Nothing on the hard drive NOW other then XP.

This should solve the problem !!!!!!!

The same difficulty as before are still here.
Any suggestions or comments.

that's a bit of a pickle, don't think you needed to format your drive though..Might have something to do with the time of day your using..your not over your download limit by any chance..wish i could be of more help

Agreed format not required to deal with the download speed.
Had been 12 Months with an amount of rubbish building up.

Ya evening and night hours def. effect the speed.
Never seen it this bad before.
Over the last little bit of time simply trying google server proves impossible.
Time outs etc.

Checked download limits and seem to be miles within the limit.
de ya know if or how I can test the contention ratio.!!
