Smile Smart is the best.

I got smart telecom about a year ago and it has been great. Wen using p2p or torrent i get the top speed everytime and it very fas on the internet. Plus the price is very good and the router is amazin which has 4 ports at the back which is good for online gaming. Anyone disagree?

I find Smart to be excellent, i pay for 6MB and always get 6MB, I'm sure the main reason for that is there is no contention ratio!
I have previously been with Eircom and BT but never reached near the advertised speed!
So yeah Smart defiantly gets my vote!

Sorry to hear that your LINE is sub-standard - but don't blame Smart, blame years of Eircom under-investment...

ADSL2 speeds are whatever the ISP wants them to be, up to 20 Mb - for example, Smart started on 2Mb basic, it was 3 Mb for a while and now it's 4Mb. 5, 6 and 8 Mb are available for extra cost, LINE permitting.

Anyway, very few places that you go on the Net can download stuff to you at 6 Mb anyway (Apple's download site is the only one I can remember right now), so unless you have multiple users on your site, speeds of over about 10 Mb are not going to be any advantage.

No that's actually the who exchange ... that is sub-standard.
But reply to you you say that is eircom fault ... all right yes it is eircom fault to not upgrade my exchange and it is alos disapointing for a new line (it was setup 3 month and 2 weeks ago) to be setup like on a outdated exchange.

BUT SMART have also thisresponsability. i starterd to followup with them after the 3 weeks delay advertised was past, they told me "sorry it is due to a lack of port on the exchange" they they server me this for 3 month i was actualy calling regularly to have an update.

then 2 weeks ago they told me that it was ok that my line was going to be cut over the 22 nd ... monday i call to confirm that the cut will be done today and the customer service adjent told me that my order was cancelled as i was informed by mail the 15th.

guess what! i never received that mail... so they replied me that it was due to my email .... the thing is what they didn't realize is that they had my professional email, that my company is actualy pretty HUGE (60 000 employes worldwilde) that there email server are bunch of 5 contental based Sun iplanet cluster with failsafe redondancy (basicaly they have 2 cluster on each node) and they are monitored 24/24 h 7 day a week so on... and that i work it the IT departement and finaly i recevied more that 40 emails that day tend me to beleive that smart was bull****ing me.

to finish i cancelled my account with smart and went for magnet bussiness and then they told me that the exchange wasn't compatible ADSL 2

so actualy smart have been talking crap during 3 month, that there customer care is terrible and they also don't check anything when you ask for an account

so eircom is to blame for the line ... and SMART for the absolute lack of any correct customer care... and i'm sorry but it is not only on the speed that you judge the quality of a company.

I have to say that I have had nothing but excellent results from Smart. Occasionally, they do have major issues with getting information from eircom which can lead to delays. It's symptomatic of a dysfunctional broadband market in Ireland.

Things are improving, but only very slowly!
