It might be ok as a consumer product, but as they don't want to provide fixed IPs it wouldn't be suitable for business IMHO.

Good point! Useful for home I suppose - allthough even there a fixed IP would prove a lot more useful.

Going to ask comments on UTV - http://www.irishisptest.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=9

If You are in a direct line of sight (max 5km ) to an Irishbroadband mast, you shouldn't think further, and then use Voip for telephony with Blueface.ie.

I don't pay Eircom 1 cent each month

I'll just say that if you ARE waiting, or thinking of waiting for smart broadband, DO. I waited for ages and went through problem after problem but in the end its worth it because its damn fast and dirt cheap and pings are just something else. Well worth the wait!

Hi,
Have had Smart for a week now. Easy setup following clear instructions. On Crown Alley exchange from time of registering on Smart's website to going live was a little over 3 weeks. Seamless change of number and phone service from Eircom. Very happy with the service. Good speeds and no downtime so far. I would suggest if you have to wait to get Smart do so as it is like very good value for money for a top class service.

Default Smart - pretty good...

I've had Smart for a few months now

Getting consistent downloads of 1.97Mbits at any time of day or night

Hanging off Beggars Bush Exchange (Ballsbridge, Dublin)

Set up was fine, and when it fell over once, after a few weeks, a quick call to them had me back online in about 40 minutes

There have been a few issue with double direct debits, but the technical side of the service has been fine

I had tried IBB Ripwave, but the coverage at my house wasn't up to scratch, even though I am well inside their coverage (terraced house amongst many others with equal-height roofs means a signal doesn't get in the windows too well)

I've no connection with Smart, other than being a happy customer, but if you want to know whether to wait for them, I'd say yes...
