Default No Smart Answers but when??

Folks I really don't know how they get away with it - but I have been in my new house for over a year now and had problems getting Eircom to test my line for Broadband (which eventually took 6 months) even though I am only a stones throw away from the Dooradoyle exchange (well less than a mile). Any ay fed up of waiting for answers signed up with Smart telecom - as their website suggested that they would be live in that exchange from April / May 05. This went by and no update from Smart and then later an update suggesting August.

I contacted them and they suggested that the delay was due to Eircom and that it would be rolled out by the end of 2005. I took the alternative UTV which i had used previously in the end.

However checking the Samart website before Christmas it said Janauary 06 and now it says it is on their timetable.

Surely it is illegal to mislead potential customers like this. They had no right to say that they would be able to provide a service in Summer last year - if they had no settled with Eircom and if the exchange had not been fitted out. It is a farce to have all these ads on the TV and radio if they haven't got a clue as to when the service will be available.

It is also interesting to note that the 2meg service they are proposing is now out of date. Do they have plans for ADSL2+?
