Default Smart Telecom broadband

I am in Crumlin and recently they are also having problems with the normal telephone line that seem to accept voice calls but cannot transmit it out. They claim that Eircom customers in the area is also having problems....i leave it to you to form your own conclusions

Default Speed up now

Dear All,

Have talked to the smarttelecom chaps and unplugged an unfiltered/no splitter phone from the telephone line in the house which is interfering with the speed, now i am up to 100kbs which is back to my previous levels.
Not utterly fast but will do the business. Hope that calms your fears about moving to smart telecoms.

I saw a guy in a Smart Telecom van stopped at a petrol station in Mullingar today and asked him if he knew when the Mullingar exchange would be enabled for Broadband. His reply "probably never" there are so many exchanges in their built program (I think he said 6000 exchanges, but can't believe there are that many in the country) Any way his general tone was "don't hold your breath!" So much for "it's in our build program for this year" which the telesales people always dole out!

Dear All,

Have recently noticed that my download speed has gone up to 2Mbs,
the upload is still a miserable 260 kbs,
I still have the problems with incoming calls not being able to connect to my phone, so i am still looking into it.

Cheers
Andrew

I know I'm a bit late here but I have to give my 2 cents worth. Been with Smart BB for a few months now (since April I think) and here's my thoughts:

a: When I first got connected, I was thrilled with the quality of the BB.

b: A month or two after that, connection was as low as 5kbps but I wasn't the only one to have this problem so didn't bother me as much as it might have done (could still game online. "Round trip on speed test was still only 1ms).

c: This problem took flipping ages for Smart to sort out (about a month me thinks) but since they did, I'm again thrilled with the broadband service (now speedtesting @ 3.79meg consistantly)

d: Smart Customer Service is shocking so if anybody is switching over to them be prepared. This "plug this in and plug this out and plug this back in" crap the fob off is just annoying and the "I really don't know what's wrong. We'll get our supervisor to rin g you at 3pm" rubbish. I got that one about 7 times and never once did I get a callback) However, with the quality of their product (with the exeption of the aweful router they use) it's worth the "hassle".

There ... my 2 cents

Probably should mention I'm on the churchfield exchange in Cork City

Default Fixing Smart BB

Well,
Thanks for your two cents,
Recently I completed a survey by Smart by Post and gave out to them for a 9 months poor service, suddenly my BB which was slow got better and then somebody just rang to check that it is working.
The problem with new companies like them is that they focus too much on their products that they fail to realise that the customer who buys them need to be kept happy. Without customers they might as well shut shop and bad publicity always blocks all the best advert that you can produce, you will always remember one bad experience and forget generally what is normal or good as it does not irritate you!!!!

Thanks

Andrew
