Default Number porting to Smart

Has anyone any experiance of porting their telephone number from Eircom to Smart?

I think it's only fairly recently that Smart have offered porting, and they claim a seamless transfer from Eircom, is this the reality?

I am planning to move phone and broadband as soon as the Mullingar exchange is enabled for broadband by Smart.

Smart claim if they port the number for you it will be faster than if Eircom do it. This is not true. It will still take up to six weeks (no joke) to get your line transfered to Smart. Eircom are very reluctant to swith users to the Smart network. Oh, and in case you don't know, you will need to change your phone number if you get Smart Broadband
