Default New House - Smart V Eircom

I'm in a bit of a situation with regards Smart and Eircom.

I'm getting the keys of my house today and I signed up to Smart a couple of weeks ago.
The house is in a new estate and I gave Smart the address. I rang today to get an update and was told that the request was refused because Eircom have basically told them that the address doesn't exist.

I rang Eircom and they said that the house is on their system but it needs a full installation for a hundred and some-odd Euro.

So it exists when Eircom want you to sign up, but doesn't exist when you want Smart to sign you up ??

Can anyone help with what to do next? I'm fed up of ringing call-centres with muppets on the end !

Basically, what you have is the good old Eircom shove-it-till-it-hurts-and-hope-they-stick-with-us routine.

Fact: Eircom must install the line. Unless you had an arrangement with your builder that they provide the lines, you're not going to avoid that. Sorry, wish I could say better.
Fallacy: You must wait x weeks for Smart to be "permitted" to take over your line. Fact is, you can do it same day if smart are available to you (I have done so twice in the past, though not with Smart). Eircom want you to give in, they're pretty well rehearsed on that schtick.

Just be bull-headed about it. Get the line installed, and even while he is there call Smart and have them take over. At that stage you have a connection point in the Exchange, so there should be no problem.
