Smile How to sign up for SMART?

I newly arrived Dublin. I am considering go to smart broadband. However, smart asks for phone number to check the line. I do not have a phone number, although there is a point in the flat that I can plug the phone line. Is there anyone can tell me how to find out the phone number?

Smart also ask me for my eircom account which appears on the phone bill. Do I need to be a customer of eircom first before I can register for smart? what if i do not want an eircom phone service?

Thanks in advance.

If you don't have a phone line and don't want to get one you may be better off dealing with Clearwire or IBB

To connect with Smart you need an Eircom Phone line. But when you sign up with smart you will be transfered from from eircom And will only need to pay smart for your line and broadband.

Due to the "de-regulated" market that we have in this country (with Eircom having more real power than Comreg) you will have to become a customer of Eircom's, so that you can receive an Eircom customer number, which you'll need so that you can give it to Smart to get their BB.

I had to do this (and give a total of around €50 to Eircom, for setup fees and line rental), but to be honest, I'd do it again if I had to, as my brother uses Eircom, and gets 2Mbits for over €100 every two months (line rental and BB), whereas I pay €70 every 2 months for 3Mbits (and currently get 6Mbits until the end of Dec!).

Red face

Thank you very much. I got my eircom account now. But another question arised.

I have to pay eircom the line rental fee two months in advance ( For December and January), which is about 45 euro. Eircom staff said I must pay that fee. But it seems unreasonable to me, because, I have signed up for Smart broadband so I should not pay eircom any rental fee from the moment I use Smart service. My question is, will I be able to get refunded that extra two month rental fee? Thank you....( too many questions...... )

You should get some of the pre-paid line rental back, but you will have to pay for the portion from the start of the Eircom service until the start of the Smart service
