Default Agreement on poor QoS

Been a customer for 4+ yrs and never been impressed with performance or support. UTV always point the finger at Eircom when there are problems but I always have to chase them to get this information, they are not proactive. Support tickets take days and days to be responded to and when they are sometimes it's by sales people looking for screen dumps.

Even their response to current market demands is non-existant. When Magnet and Smart came looking for my business I put it up to UTV and asked what their response was. Still waiting for a reply....

...also still with them. As is obvious to anyone who reads these fora there are no oustanding service providers in this jurisdiction. As soon as there is they are going to be very busy.

The only thing that's consistent with them is upload speed of 207 kbps. Download is between 600 and (rarely) 1591 kbps (max)

Default UTV Problems

Hi, Ive been with UTV for about 2 years with no problems - until lately!

Connections keep droping, speed goes from 1.6 max (im on 2meg option) as low as 240K!!

I contacted support via email and they tell me they have been having some connection issues and call support on the phone. Called support and waited 30 min on hold got fed up and gave up.

Speeds are up and down at the moment.

Another strange thing i hav noticed. I moved hosting for a small website i look after fro fasthost.co.uk to blacknight. I changed nameservers etc. From my office everything seemed to work ok - the domain name is pointing to blacknight hosting - office broadban is eircom, When i lookup this domain from my home utv connection it still points to the old host!!(i put extra text on the old host index so that I would know when it was moved). It seems UTV are a bit slow updating their nameservers or something.?

And I thought it was just me, I am constantly on to them, they never reply to emails and if they do they are generally standard issue ones.
I recently upgraded to a 2meg line as I was getting around 530mbps on the standard line, I thought happy days.
Yeah right since I have dropped to nothing more than a glorified Isdn connection.
when I challenge them on the seldom time they do talk to me, they tell me we do stipulate speeds are not guaranteed, typical of Irish consumerism.

Default I am with them to

I have a 2meg line and I am getting between 650 download and 196 up load
I have terrible times trying to get them to reply to an email, and here is the best one when my connection was down alltogether last week they said they will get eircom to look at it, so somehow it mysteriously came back at 3am, and I got a email saying there was nothing wrong with my line.
Then the stinger, I have to pay for the engineer call out because they found no fault ..
I am leaving them anyway it was a great service before they stared re-leasing the lines to newtel, now we have double the amout of people usiing the band width

Default Utv Rip

I am with UTV a few years now with my phone line. A few months ago the broadband service became available in my area so i took UTV broadband, 2 MEG. I have never to this day got over 1 meg. They put the blame on my pc. My friend bought a new Sony laptop. We connected it to my line and done a speed test, still no more than 1 meg. UTV blamed eircom and said I would have to pay to have them have a house call. I am just waiting for my contract to finish and I am moving provider.

Default Maybe I am just lucky.......

I have been with UTV Clicksilver for four years now. Currently on the 3mb package and get a consistent 2.55mb download and 316kb upload. I went to change to Magnet about a year ago - nightmare. Went back to UTV and no issues. Went over cap and they charged - but say they will, No problems connecting at any time. Customer Service is slow - but use the phone and speak to someone and you get a response. Free phone calls means my average telephone component of the bill is less than five euro. Maybe more to do withn the quality of the service at the exchange (Live in North Dublin). Overall very satisfied.
