Default vodafone at home 3mbs - PROBLEMS!

Hi,
Just got connected to vodqafone at home 3mbs package and was hoping to do better than current 1mbs speeds with Airwave.
Imagine my surprise when I ran speedtest to get 38kbs - no not a typo! tested again and got 49kbs, 119kbs, 133kbs. What a joke. I've had BB for the last few years and no problems with Airwave in the last year speed wise and no outage.

Tried vodafone customer support and no one there even though it says 24hr support on their website. Probably small print somewhere says it's 24 hrs over 7 days. Anyways will speak to someone there and they will sort me out with something like a proper speed - I live in hope.

Just realised that I had forgotten about dial up speed frustration and how crazy it can make you. I am not going back to that thanks very much.
The only reason to switch from Airwave was the prce when compared to the bundle package from vodafone but if it only can deliver dial up/isdn speeds there is no point.

Luckily I still have the Airvawe connection live and am getting 1.05mbs on that on the laptop.

Yes folks 3.6kbs not a typo. Just done this test a minute ago.
Was getting 2.5mbs at lunchtime so my setup is fine and vodafone are capable of supplying faster. Can this be considered broadband?

Thumbs down vodafone problems

Update on woe dafone saga:

vodafone are not doing themselves any favours here.
Getting a good 2.5mbps during the day problem is it drops to 200kbps or less (3kbps) in the afternoon sometime and stays like that for most of the evening.
Tried a couple of days now to speak to them but can't get through before they shut down at 8pm. The 24hr customer service is not for the at home bb service! vodafone problems continue.
Did try emailing at the start of the week but am still waiting for a reply to that - maybe they are swamped with complaints.
Will keep trying the phone, at least to see what they will say.

Anyone else have good or bad experience with vodafone at home?

Angry vadafone at home 3mbs - NOT

I have the exact same problem I switched over with them back in late June early July at first the broadband worked great.

I went on 2 weeks holidays and when I got back I got a letter from Vodafone telling me my broadband had been upgraded from 3MB to 7.2MB free of charge since i got back it has not been the same.

Just ran a test now 118kb/s download & 188 kb/s upload will contact vodafone in the morning regarding this but won't hold me breath have called them regarding other problems with my calls and i'm still waithing on someone to call me back.

Will let you know.

Seems like I'm not the only one then.
Good luck trying to get a reply from vodafone.
I've given up on the phone and am waiting for an email response.

Default Vodafone BB

I got 2Mb package & was upgraded to 3Mb package last week. Had been having trouble with connexn so I returned the modem/router. This week things have been better. I am surprised to find tonight @ midnight 5.92Mbps download, 568kbps upload, quality 84% & 0.3% jitter. This is on new iMAC so maybe this has something to do with it? By the way iMAC is a truly beautiful machine, I am a first Mac user! Regarding VF, I am hope speeds stay like this.
Later....

Glad to see someone getting a decent speed. Maybe I need to get a shiny new mac too!

I have also found that later at night the speeds go back up to around 2.5mbps.
What speeds are you getting around 6-8pm?

Still waiting for a response from vodafone myself.

Default 3G 'out of coverage'

I have a voda 3G unit provided by the company, flies along in Dublin but nothing out here. Out here being between Mullingar - Kinnegad. Voda agree..no coverage. I was up on the roof doing the TV aerial when I had an idea and brought the laptop up + dongle. Ye Hah! 2.5Mb down 1Mb up. Quality of signal varies between 75-95% and there's no performance difference day or night.

Zut! Completely sacrificed mobility with the wee plastic beast in a waterproof case on 15 ft of screened 5 core cable attached to the TV aerial.

Its the only broadband we have out here. Eircom won't do the exchange so no DSL, O2 and 3 are really no signal.

Very inventive solution. I wonder if it would be possible to connect your cable to a wireless router to send the signal round the house. They will be advertising it as an option next - gaffer tape included in the price!

Still waiting for a email reply from vodafone here.
On the up side the speeds are getting a bit better in the evening now but quality of service reports are pretty poor still. Got from 850kbps to 1.2mbps speeds in the last few mins.

Not ideal but enough to calm me down slightly. Still would not rate vodafone in the home broadband stakes yet.

Anyones else got views on vodafone's home bb?

Thumbs down vodafone problems

Update : still waiting for a reply from vodafone from my online enquiry about the speed issues.
But seem to be getting about 2.4Mbps speeds most of the time in the last week or so. Can't complain about that but the quality is not always great, with big pauses causing it to slow down.

Just tried to post this and it timed out so quality is still a problem.

Similar experience in Limerick. Sometimes it works , mostly it doesn't.vodafone blame everything themselves. tech assistance totally unhelpful. waste of time.

Still have the same issues with vodafone at home.

Never got any reply to my online enquiry and they have now removed that option from their site so whaat does that say - must be plenty others out there swamping them with fauly enquirues and they just gave up.

So have now sent them another enquiry via their contact us box - I will not be holding my breath as I'm not a whale.

speedtest shows 2.14 Mbps down and 84kbps up just now and that's a fair representation. Video is a nightmare to stream due to the huge pauses which are symetrical - and therefore a result of throttling??

Reccomend you stay away from vodafone and their poor at home service for now.

Anyone else got any dealings with woedafone?

Red face Wait & See

vodafone at last answered my email, phoned me back and put me through to tech services today. tech man, keith, went through the old reliables - "we don't know what your pc might be doing etc etc... fill in the blanks yourself". he did seem to get it that there is nothing wrong with the line or the pc as i am able to get good speed and low pauses at times but that the problem was down to huge pauses in the evenings at times.

in the end he said that as i had been getting good results while speaking to him on the phone and they had applied a solution (?) that i should give it a go now and see how i got on over the next few days. that seems reasonable to me a all i want is a good speed as that's what i'm paying for.

so we will see if the issues are resolved over the next week or so.
just tested and getting 2.5Mbps down and max pause 15ms

And now I find my speed is around 1.8mb...!!!..This from a 7.6mb line!!!...They have a **** service, and a **** customer care unit!!...Im canceling my contract and moving
