Default NTL and Blueface

I've an NTL connection and have recently signed up with Blueface for phonecalls. The quality of the calls however has been disappointing, everything is fine on my end but those I call are having great difficulty hearing anything I say, all is very broken up. Just wondering if anyone else out there is having the same issues?

I've been using NTL (Broadband Max 3MB) and blueface (Unlimited World Package) for over 6 months and they work great. We use it for all our calls (more than 1000 min monthly) and quality is very good.

We use a Linksys WRT54GP2 with a normal phone and the quality is perfect. If a use the computer with an USB headset the quality is a bit worse and if I use the computer with a bluetooth headset the quality is even worst.

Also if I'm doing some have internet usage on the computer (high upload/download speed) there is some background noise on the phone. If not, quality is perfect.

I use a Zoom X5v modem, 4 port router and ATA combo. I just have a 1 meg connection with Eircom and it works great. Because it's an all in one package it gives priority to voip when it is in use so you never get a fall off in voice quality. For anyone considering purchasing an ATA I would definetly reccomend spending the few extra Euro for it. (105 euro inc. shipping from www.digidave.ie)

BTW a much cheaper option than Blueface is to use www.voipdiscount.com you need to buy 10euros credit which lasts up to 4 months for which you get 20 hours of calls per month to landlines in 52 countries around the world. Calls to Irish mobiles cost 15 cent per minute which is one of the cheapest rates going (almost half the price of EirCON) Unfortunately no IN number yet for Ireland but I guess it's only a matter of time.

Default The only problem is......

hi, the only problem is I am currently with UTV for me to change my landline number to a NTL & Blueface setup I first have to move back to eircom AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH and then port my number to blueface and then cancel my eircom account. It just seems too much work! It seems incredible that you have to sign up again with eircom just to move your number! the wonders of conreg!
