Default VOIP Buster

This program will allow you to make free calls to landlines anywhere in the world. I have being using it for some time and the quality is very good.

Not free to any landline; for example France is 1.2 eurocents per minute (including VAT). This is still a good rate. Also note that to call a pay country you must put down a €5 deposit. Again not expensive, but not free.

The other problem is that you must use your PC. Cleaner solutions allow you to plug a box into your broadband, and a regular phone into the box. (e.g. CISCO's ATA 186). The regular phone can be cordless, and so available anywhere in the house.

Voipbuster and voipstunt and both owned by a German Company called Betamax GmbH! They have recently launched another site called www.internetcalls.com which has the same list of free destinations as voipstunt but now you don't have to buy any call credits if you are only calling the free destinations.

If you have got an ATA another Betamax site sipdiscount.com has the same free destinations and supports ata's

I have been using voipstunt for about a month, mainly for calls to the UK and Sweden, The quality to the UK has always been perfect but on calls to Sweden the line always has an echo.

A great resource for keeping up with the latest VOIP news is www.myvoipprovider.com

Anytime I get a coldcall from a telecom co. these days I just mention the magic word VOIP and they hangup immediately.
