It's good if you have a laptop, I can go 10,000 feet with mine and still usee the internet. Though the distance varies depending on surroundings

If you use it in urban areas, then wireless is all the better. Most of the houses in cities have ancient wiring in them and it is an expensive job to go laying CAT cable all over the place. Its also handy for being out in the back garden, or if you own a laptop and like to carry it round without having to lay cables trailing along behind you when you want to use it. So long as it has proper encryption in place, wireless internet is great.

Thats cause if you are in a city you are probably closer to the signal is coming from.

Default wireless

I dont know if you are new to wireless or are just testing the water, however there is a lot going for wireless, as you may know the technology is line of sight from the transmiter(router) to the recever, it can be as far as 17 klm.
I think almost everybody is familiar with the state of eircom's cables in the rural areas ( as I post this thread my land line is down for the past three days, just another good point for wireless broadband) with the constant breakdowns and very poor service to make the repairs and their lame excuses that it is the bad weather!!!
lightening has no effect on wireless, nor high wind and rain. With the benifits of skype and voip, there is no need for eircom's wire or poles, and you can do away with the line rental and call charges( I save €66 per month)
I could continue to list the good points for wireless but I think that is enough for now, if there are some questions please post them.

hi Gordy so far I have had no trouble with voip sending or receiving, with the recent improvements in technology things are getting better all the time, there has been a massive increase in membership recently with skype. I recon this is the start of the end of land line
